Building a testing server for ESXI

Thread Starter
Hi,

I have a very simple requirement.

Basically I need to build a server for running ESXI

2 most important things are cores and rams. (ECC rams are not important)

any good recommendation?

Are there motherboards that don't have silly PCI slots but at the same times more ram slots?

recommend

CPU
Motherboard
ram
PSU
Casing

FAQ

Well is this for a business or just you testing at home?
home test and high load testing. (NO ECC ram requirement)

Where about in the world are you ?
Singapore just consider I am in USA

Not anymore.

Also, in any virtualization, it's not CPU that's a hang up, but I/O. Cpu use isn't usually a problem. The usual list is:
  1. ram
  2. i/o
  3. cpu
  4. network...maybe

Are you planning all SSDs? If it is for testing you shouldn't need large drives right?
