30" Korean IPS DIED today....better honor the 1 year warranty

I had an Irun ZT-SH30QHDM HDMI 1.4a 2560x1600 from bigclothcraft. got it in late June 2013. And I never used it for about 2 months of that time either.

Its PSU was a piece of crap, used to get to about 60C on the outside case in no time. So I took off the case and put a 90cm fan on it, and that worked.

In the meantime I asked and received another PSU, and it was just as bad, and its internals were a bit different. So with it I also took off the case and used the fan on it. I never told BCC about using a fan on them.

Last week, the PSU I was using broke, it would turn on/off every few seconds, with its green LED doing the same, and the IPS doing the same.

So I switched to the other PSU. It used to make a coil whine type sound when the IPS was turned off, so I used to unplug it when gone. And today, when I turned on the IPS, it flashed a few times to black, and died. I could smell something burning a bit. I suspect its the crappy PSU frying the IPS, but who knows.

I tried it on the other PSU, nothing happens, the IPS's red light comes on but just a black screen.

I don't know if the picture is still there if a flashlight is shined on it, don't have 1. Would the flash from my camera catch an image it its there I wonder?

bigclothcraft was ready to send another PSU, just told him about the IPS..........he better honor that 1 year warranty.

The IPS used to do a few other things funny too, a lot of times I would have to hit the power button 2,3 even 5 times for it to turn on.

And it used to display a really weird image when coming back from sleep and off for screen saver. A lot of that seems to have been from the 7950 crossfire, or the drivers. I used to have to turn on/off the IPS a few times to fix it, other times I had to reboot.

Since I've been back to a single 7950 and new drivers, I only had that happen 1-2 times in this last month.

Isn't there a universal PSU out there? I mean...if the OEM PSU is this bad then maybe it's time to get something that's not going to break sometime in the future..

Sounds like 2 bad PSUs, but it's possible they killed the monitor. You should try a 3rd, generic PSU before you try to return it.

Dell and HP need to sell consumer grade 60hz+ displayport-only 1440p monitors for less than $500. The Korean models just prove there's a massive profit margin there.

You're just mad you never jumped on the train tongue.gif

I tried to, but when two of my Q270 Catleaps died, it just ran me over.

I don't praise poor mans hardware.

It might be your graphics card playing up!
I had to swap out my 6950 recently for this ... have you got a spare card that can do it?

trust me its the monitor, it died or its lamp did

I switched to my 23" 1080p monitor, it worked right away, and it sure seems depressingly smaller and low res in games
