Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H vs Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z87 - Page 2

Can you be more precise on what you say in order to help us understand smile.gif
post #12 of 22
G1 Sniper Z87 is the same as UD3H with few replacement. They got rid of Intel NIC, and use Killer instead. Also replaced ALC898 + line driver with Creative + OAMP. A bit different PCI-E layout, and connectivity.

Build quality should be the same. Gigabyte is pretty good on keeping the exact same build quality for boards under the same Ultra Durable brand (in this case 5+, with minor exceptions). They appear to have the same VRM.

Just get one which you find has more appealing features to you.

Oh and D3H vs UD3H has worse audio, and thinner PCB.

Exactly that i was trying to explain on this post from the beginning. G1 is a new board with some extra features that you could find it / or not on some expensive boards. I don;t see the reason why someone at this moment may prefer D3H instead of G1 which has the same layout and care from GA plus some the extra add on.
I'm not stuck with this board but at least i expect from someone to explain me some good reasons of not going with Z87 G1 Sniper and prefer D3H smile.gif

Well if one already has a better audio solution, and dislikes Killer NIC (because they are sometimes troublesome), why not pick D3H/UD3H for I don't know, extra SATA ports (UD3H)? PCI-E x4?

BTW D3H is cheaper than G1 by ~$20, UD3H is cheaper by ~$10.

Price depends on where you live.

Here G1 is same price as D3H and they both are around $20 cheaper than UD3H.

And to point out again - G1 lacks CPU_OPT. If you are planning to OC your CPU, then lack of this feature will limit your choice of coolers.

If you mean you can't use coolers with 2 fans, then no. You can connect 2nd fan to the same header, or other system header.

Well these boards only offer 3 sys fans, so using system fan is not an option.

I don't get what you meant by "You can connect 2nd fan to the same header". Can you explain?

You just use a cable splitter to connect 2 fans to the same header as long as they are not Deltas or some other high current fans (you can't run those of a motherboard anyway).

Or even better, a fan controller.

As I stated in one of my first posts, I'm planning to use same CPU cooler you use. Is your compatible with that splitter to use in same header?

My idea is to add this CPU cooler and use system fans for case cooling instead of connecting fans to psu...

Yes it is. NH-D14 even comes with that splitter and its fans will run just fine from 1 header..
