GPU Performance, What should I upgrade to?

I have this GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX760 FTW with ACX Cooler 4GB GDDR5 256Bit and I was wondering if having an SLI setup would be enough to suit my needs. Basically right now with the single card I get about 20 - 30 FPS in Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag and Crysis 3 with everything maxed out. I'm wondering if getting a second GPU (SLI) would make the games on max settings be 60 FPS (approx.) or if I should just get a better (single) GPU. My budget is around $600 and below are my specs:

Motherboard: Sabertooth Z77
RAM: 16 GB Patriot DDR3
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX760 FTW with ACX Cooler 4GB GDDR5 256Bit
Hard Drive: Corsair Force GS 240 GB SSD
Processor i5 3570K 3.4 GHz

assassins creed doesn't run particularly well. they did add sli profiles late November. though i havn't seen and good benchmarks showing how well they scale in the game.

I was recently contemplating a 2nd 470 to being me up to date but decided against is due to the power required and the running cost. though 2 760s do outperform a Titan in 3Dmark. anything that doesn't run well is either poorly optimized in general or doesn't run well on sli. the thing to consider is your performance increase will by no means be consistent.

bottom line: get a 2nd card and save a bunch of cash or blow most of the cash for a higher end gpu

max power on a 760 is around 160 so not to much to add

I forgot to mention I am running on a 1080p monitor. I guess what I was ultimately asking is what do I need to do to run games like Crysis 3, Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed etc. well on Max settings? Get a second GPU (SLI) or get a single better GPU like the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti? Thanks for your help but need some clarity on this.

this should help then

doesn't seem to be any benchmarks for assassins creed, but it doesn't look like sli scales very well for it. ultimately sli will outperform a 780 ti in some games but not all, a single card will be more consistent in terms of performance and less hassle

not sure about AC but for C3, if you can sell your 760 and get the 780, then oc your cpu to around 4.4GHz to max it out at 1080. i used to crossfire 7900 cards to max it (i mean maxed) but i can do it now with a single 290 at stock.

I did some more research, looks like I could get better performance (FPS) with my current card in an SLI config than a Titan?
Also, overclocking the CPU isn't something I would do just because I don't want to shorten it's life time if I don't have to

780 oc will close the gap on 760 sli - get the 780 less hassle and quieter thumb.gif

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131522 R9 290X $589 and keep your current card for physx if your into that.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487001 GTX 780 TI $719 and sell off your current card to get under your 600.00 limit, sell it for around 200.00 and its a win.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130916 GTX 780 non TI $499 and just overclock it and sell off your current card or use for a spare or future build such as a HTPC, a 760 is a good quiet card for a small case.
