Star Swarm is actually the first hard evidence we've seen of what Mantle can do, and the numbers speak for themselves: With everything else being equal, enabling Mantle increased the demo's frame rate by nearly 300 percent, from an unplayable 13 fps to a buttery 44 fps. AMD promised as much when it launched its Kaveri APU earlier today, adding that Star Swarm will run at playable frame rates even on low-power 65-watt versions of the APU (versus 95 watts for a regular desktop chip).

what about 13fps or the same 44fps without motion blur enabled tongue.gif

not sticking up for DX as you could tell from my sig,but lets be fair this is pure AMD marketing right this moment as Kaveri has been a monumental disappointment for many they are trying to sell the virtues of Mantle and HSA right now. The truth is, you would be better off buying a low end discrete GPU with an i3. Seen as Mantle is open source and Nvidia own AMD on Linux (with their closed source driver not the open) then you could go further and say just buy a lower end Nvidia GPU + i3 / Richland Athlon if you want vt-d (prices will be lower now) and have a great experience on any platform you choose

but yea.. mantle is nice for sure thumb.gif

its also why this article is so conveniently out the day or less than a whole day after Kaveri's launch. You do realize both Nvidia and AMD 'support' certain developers to enhance features in game engines right ..
