I know the feeling man, I'm waiting for my caselabs, but more importantly the EVGA power supply to be available again.

Hey guys.. I think I'm having issues with my SLI Kingpins but maybe you can help to find the problem. Maybe its the PSU or MB, IDK. My PSU is the EVGA G2 1300w and it was not on the recall list, so I'm assuming its running as it should.

I've been running the Kings since release, before that I had a pair of EVGA Reference 780Ti's. Both ran super smooth and never had any FPS issues that I could not solve. MY CPU is stable, tested via 10hour prime95.

Lately, maybe for the last week or 2 I've been getting terrible frame rate drops while gaming. It just started happening out of nowhere. The only thing I can think of software wise is a windows update but that seems unlikely.

For example, playing Witcher 2, the fps would be at a solid 120fps then suddenly it will drop to 15-20fps and then go back to full performance, it all happens in about 1-2 seconds. Not during a loading screen or anything like that. Totally random areas. They've always worked spectacular up until a week or two ago. Happens with any game, crysis 2, Assassins Creed 4 , Fallout, etc. Its like the game skips a beat for a second and then has to catch up, the movements kinda go blurry for a second then stabilizes. My ASIC scores are 60 and 64%, if that means anything.

It doesn't matter what driver I use, it doesn't matter what BIOS I flash. I've tried the stock(normal) bios, the 8888 Bios, sky's rev. 5. BIOS , etc. I've tried the latest Nvidia drivers, the ones b4 that and now Im on 331.82. I've tried disabling Physx, uninstalled geforce experience. Tried running at 60hz, tried Nvidia custom resolutions, tried ToastyX's patch and CRU at 120hz and 96hz.. Clean installed windows 8.1 and secure erased my SSD. I even tried a 7200rpm drive as my main drive for sits and gigs. I've always gamed on my SSD, I usually just keep the current games Im in to at the moment on the ssd and keep the rest uninstalled.

I've tried toggling the power switches to one on, both on and/or both off. I never disabled the volt protection switches. My temps are at the most 75c and that's rare, I usually manually down-clock via PrecX if they get near the 75c mark. Tried playing while overclocked, tried playing stock but it seems something is funky, I'm getting the same issue no matter what I try.

I did try benching a few times, I used the classy controller and set the volts to maybe 1.275, nothing more because of the toggle switches. But I never let the temps go over 82c. So I hope and do not think I borked my cards. But something aint right. Do you think it could be the MB or the PSU? I guess maybe even the RAM? I've tried resetting the cmos on MB and running everything stock and Im still having the issues. Games are playable and if I had a lower model card or just even one card I would say maybe its the GPU, but 2 kingpins should not stutter like they are. And like I said, it started happening out of nowhere, its not like they were stuttery in the beginning. And the stuttering started happening way after I was playing around with the benchmarks, its not like it happened right after.

Any ideas would be very helpful. Thank you for reading!

Have you tried testing the cards individually to see if it happens while not using SLI

No I have not. Great idea!

Unfortunately, they are doing the same thing. I tried taking out the bottom card and just ran single, it took a few mins but it skipped while just walking around. I forgot to mention in my first post that even the sounds kinda skips a beat. Also tried taking the bottom card and putting it in the top slot, same problem.

Also, my cousin just said try your other PC! Duh.. Glad I posted, thought I had tried everything.

If you guys have any other ideas please let me know. Gonna try swapping PC's in the morning.

Thank you for your suggestions.
That at least rules out it being an SLI problem, Man I feel for you it sucks when you troubleshoot everything possible as it appears you just about have done and still no resolution. Your friends idea would pinpoint the issue to the card or cards so I would say definately try the other pc and come back and let us know. In the meantime try monitoring the usage statistics with EVGA OC scanner or similar program while running benchmark and see if anything looks unusual, good luck

BTW thanks 4 the rep thumb.gif
