Try putting your cpu at stock clocks. Also are you running gen 3 or 2? And what cpu are you running? Are you using offset mode on the overclock?

Open up a instance of cpu z and game at the same time watch your cpu clocks if they fluctuate like from idle 1200mhz to your oc then the culprit is found.

I am betting it's your cpu that's downclocking. Also in windows in power options set it to high performance and the min cpu state to 100%. Do you have speed step on as well and the c states?

I tried the cards on a different PC with similar specs. They worked 100%. So it is not the cards.

Figured ill try and start 100% stock again. I reset cmos, cleared ssd, set the +25 power toggles to off on the KPE (since I'm on air at the moment). Clean installed 8.1, used nvidia custom res, only installed latest whqldriver and physx, nothing else. Unplugged other drives that had misc videos, etc. rolleyes.gif

Tried one card, it worked 100% smile.gif , tried SLI also is working 100%. I bet it was me messing with the driver patch. I read somewhere that some games work better with the patch, but maybe the later 700 series doesn't need it. IDK. So far, so good.. Thanks guys for your advise. thumb.gifthumb.gif Hopefully it sticks but when the problem arose it happened very quick. I tested for a long time and its been solid.. weeeeeweeeeee biggrin.gif

Nice I'm glad you got it to work smile.gif

I would highly doubt it's the cards it was most likely the CPU or if you ran the Gen 3 patch.

I'm thinking about ordering this card , right now im running two GTX 670 FTW 4GB in SLI . I will be gaming it on air , i play at 1920x1080 @ 144HZ , would this be a worthy upgrade by just running one card vs my current SLI ?

No. You would see roughly the same performance, but the experience would be smoother with only one card. You are set until Maxwell or even Volta.
If anything, I'd consider grabbing a Korean 1440p for a worthy upgrade. I know I am toying with the idea.

I'd say it depends on how your current cards clock and how lucky you'd be with the KPE. I just went from golden 670s to the KPE and I'm certainly not complaining but it's also not a real improvement or downgrade. More of a sidegrade at best to be honest. But the KPE is certainly more of a fun card to tweak with.

If you don't care about tweaking, and just want to game, then stick with what you have.

Very nice, not bad at all. What did that take to accomplish?
