My Kingpin ASIC is 74.9

The chart that's listed with the reading makes no sense, either.
If you look closely at the chart, the top half of what the readings are supposed to represent are reversed and mirrored in the 2nd half of the chart.
The top part of the chart renders the 2nd part moot.
They cancel out what each says leaving a net value of meaning at zero.
Saying the chart is illogical is high praise for this program since it means absolutely nothing, as explained.
When CPU-Z came up with this crock I told W1zzard he should remove it for the same reason and that it would end up being nothing but confusing.
I was right.
Maybe the chart should be rewritten with an actual explanation of the given reading.
Maybe there's something basic I'm completely missing.
In any case, it still makes no sense and I'm going to just ignore it from now on.
My 2nd KPE is still a dog, though. It won't OC well.

What is that you do not get..??

The chart makes sense.

Instead of percentage ASIC, you could use numbers 1 - 10
10 being the best & being the worst.

This ASIC value is simply looking at the voltage required by your particular chip to hit stock clocks, same as people looking at Stock VID of Haswell CPUs to try & judge how well it will overclock.

Simply put,
Less voltage means less heat means more OC headroom.

If Chip 1: can do 1.2 Ghz at 1.0 V &
Chip 2: does 1.2 V at 1.1 V.

Then Chip 1 would probably do 1.3Ghz at 1.1V making it better than Chip 2.

Although one glaring inaccuracy here is that baseline stock voltage are different for different families of chips.

You cannot use same chart to judge a 770 & 780, or a 780 & 780Ti.

I hope they are using different charts for different chips, although it is highly unlikely.

Btw guys, I need a new good multimeter, last one just crapped the bed.

just curious do you know what you are gonna ask for your caselabs?

If you dont wanna fork over the cash for a fluke, I just bought one of these. Some might scoff at a craftsman DMM but it's true RMS and seems to be a really good one thumb.gif
Its considered a mini DMM but its not much smaller than the rest and it's on sale

damn thats strange, maybe some kind of a bug on first KPE ?

or maybe try to reinstall drivers as they are the thing, which controlls the temp sensors if I am right

I am now having the same problem but with CPUID HW Monitor - it was showing something called "package power" and was an estimate of power draw of my CPU

but for some reason now its completly done - its mind boggling smile.gif

Now, FutureMark doesn't recognize my 2nd KPE, either.

Someone else in this thread mentioned the same thing.
Could it be my drivers?
I've gone back to using the drivers that came on the KPE install disks, 331.65.
The newer drivers weren't stable with either card.
When I uninstall I do everything except go into the registry.
I don't mind modding the registry, I just don't like to mess with it unless there's no choice.
What's the best drivers for all-around gaming and benching, on air?
Is it safe to use the 2nd voltage switch without water cooling?
So far, the highest temp. I've seen on either of my cards is around 72C.
They usually stay between 68 and 70C under load.
I'm at 27C right now, the above run topped off at 68C.
Isn't it true that the voltage will go no higher than the load demands?
Just because the juice is available doesn't mean the card has to use it all?
I've yet to hear anyone mention how awesome the custom ACX coolers on the KPE's really are.
Just how people are ripping these coolers off, and immediately replacing them with water blocks without giving the custom ACX cooler a decent chance to show off.
I'm really not very concerned about heat, but always keep an eye on it.

Even if it did it would sometimes show -206 and 406 and crazy readings like that

My techpowerup Z.7.7 shows vrm, not sure why is wont for some people though

I don't know why GPU-Z is supposed to be so great. Or reliable.
I've had problems with the program for years, but can't find a better alternative.
Without buying a $300 digital voltmeter? rolleyes.gif
BTW, the 1st KPE I bought has an ASIC of 60.9% and OC's just fine.
This one, my 2nd KPE, has an ASIC of 77.4% and is a real dog when trying to OC.
Any chance these will SLi worth a damn?
Is an almost 20% difference in ASIC quality between 2 of the same cards any indication of binned gpu's?

(Well, that didn't work. I erased and redownloaded it directly from TPU and it's the same.
I guess I'll try and copy it from the other comp on a usb drive & see what happens.)
(Nope. Copied it on a usb drive from the other comp. installed it and it's still the same.
Looks like GPU-Z finally has me completely beaten.)

From where do you download that ver.of gpuz ?
Thanks
