Jacob mentioned the Kingpins will be all Samsung and the regular Classy TIs will be Hynix or Samsung.

Dry ice you have virtually no control at all, you just have to hope that whatever you are cooling is capable of running around -70 or so.

Here are some good prep guides to review:

Vaseline prep is probably the most common GPU method, eraser is also very effective and easy to use, especially when you're only looking at -40 to -60C If you're running colder eraser tends to spread the cold to the card's PCB more so than vaseline.

Great! +1 thumb.gif

Has anyone ever tried using dragon skin for gpu insulation, or is it too complicated to control due to a smaller pcb for the gpu compared to a mobo board?

I have thought the kingpin has the power limit unlocked, and from a screenshot it's 110%. Can it be unlocked?

im not so sure i talked to evga bout this yesterday and they were telling me u could potentially get a kingping with elpida or hynix i want to see some proof i want to see some screen shots of people using nvidia inspector to check their ram type.

I've tried it once on a motherboard, X58 Classified. I really didn't care for it, I ended up getting air bubbles in mine. I ended up peeling it off and going with Vaseline instead.

Another popular "coating" is liquid electrical tape, it is quite effective at creating an air tight seal, and can also be removed with almost no trace left. wink.gif

Well Jacob is a Rep for EVGA and he said Samsung for the Kingpin 780 TI and also Strong Island 1 posted his Kingpin pcb pic and the ram chips show Samsung.

Dragon skin is OK on motherboards that use cpus that cold boot bug by -125 or so, but it can't really stand up to full pot ln2 with cracking apart. It also tends to start unpeeling at the edges with time & handling, I could see it getting loosened up on gpus fairly quickly. I still have it on my x58 & sandy bridge boards, holding up pretty well on those.

The LET is what i usually use, handy for cards that will be frozen multiple times & run on air/water between cold sessions.

Vaseline is great for quick insulating, card can be bench ready 10 minutes after opening the box if needed. But then the vas does need some clean up to be able to swap coolers, etc. otherwise I tend to get it all over everything I touch. It is fairly easy to clean off, good for a first session with new hardware.

Good to know! Although I had picked up dragon skin, I did end up getting some clear LET too. smile.gif
