Strong Island has had miserable luck with the memory on both his Kingpins so far, so much so that he is selling his KPEs for the same price as a regular classified and getting his old regular classifieds back. Hopefully this is the exception to the norm but Hynix on the regular classifieds clocked easily to 8 GHz or more while the 2 samples of Samsung overclocked so far were at 7300 and 7500 MHz respectively.

You probably spoke with someone in Customer Service instead of someone on the technical side. No offense, but customer service is not the best people to talk to if you want reliable information. If Jacob says all Kingpins come with Samsung, you can take that to the bank.

its all about silicone lottery of course u can get good hynix ram no one said u cant.. its just more likely that the samsung will perform better at a lower mhz and tighter timings..

Well it's 4 in a row now, a guy on another forum said both his KPE memories overclocked poorly compared to Hynix on the regular 780 Ti. I understand this could be a coincidence but stil..

Sounds like the Titan's are still getting all the great Samsung memory. We will have more Kingpin results soon enough though.

Well strong island on this forum himself is a source, he tried out memory voltages from stock to 1.8 V I believe but his best memory overclock was + 500 effective/ +125 clock. His other card gave up after +300 effective.

The cards that I used all did about 1900-1950 with 1.75v set on the evbot. Here is a screen shot of me messing with card on air cooler after I had finished trying some 2d benches.
