with PSUs its strange sometimes, i had an enermax revolution 1250 watt psu and it would not ocp until i loaded it with more than 1500 watts!! each rail is rated at 35 ampere and i pulled more than 50 ampere from it and it was still not a problem!

Is it possible to up the limit of a 1200i or "change some settings in corsair link to make it more resistant to shunting down?

This OCP Multirrail option. Disabling or enabling that can make a difference maybe?
Pic from google.

EDIT, This thread maybe answer my own question. Giving that my psu was using multirail on the PCI-E outs the psu might though i had a surge or something.

thank you, this is interesting, i will read it! its very difficult to determine what the cards are consuming, some say that as soon as you overvolt these kepler chips they tend to use incredible amounts of juice, which in a way is true, but i think some figures are exaggerated! it also depends on the clocks, you could try to apply 1.45 volt to both cards but clock them much lower and decrease your cpu overclock and volts to save another 100 watts and see if it still shuts down.

disable OVP (over volt protection)

also I am 90% sure that PSU is single rail

Talking about 4930K and voltage, I've got a sicksmiley.png chip that need 1.41v for 4.5Ghz and 1.48v for 4.6Ghz. And guess what, I'm running this one on Air cause I just don't care. Temp are fine tho, I only use it on my bench rig, the hottest it got was on XTU (72°c).
Nice hardmod on the 780Ti, it quite possible you hit a wall with 1200w indeed. With my 2x 780 Ti kpe at 1.45v, I was hitting 1400w of my evga 1300G2 from the wall under raymark (catzilla).

yeah but thats gold efficiency so its actually 90% of that or something being consumed by the PC

stuff is wierd

you were at I estimate 1270watts?
Yeah something like that, and I was fine, it didn't shut down.
The AX1200i at 100% pulls 1344w from the wall (80plus file about the AX1200i)
Disabling the multi-rail mode should do it (disable ocp) as it's most definitely the two card that draw most of the wattage.

I can now confirm that it's the PSU thats the bottleneck. Did some test with lower volts and the rig stay's fine howering 1000-1100W. But when i reach 1300ish from the wall the psu shuts down. Roughly 1200W out to the system.

It's a Platinum supply with both single and multi rail option "OCP"

Even when i disable OCP the supply shuts down. :/
This surly is a problem. I think that a 1200W platinum power supply should be able to deliver power past 1200W without doing these hard shutdown's.
It's one of the most expensive ones out there.mad.gif

price doesn't mean much when it comes to PSUs pretty much anyone will tell you the best PSU out there is the g2 1300 and its 150usually. the only one thats really better is the new Antec High Current Pro Platinum 1300 and its expensive

i forget what exactly for, but i remember hearing some complaints on the i version of the AX1200 in the extreme cooling section.

that said the AX1200 and g2 1300 are both good psus and I know there are some benchers that prefer the ax1200, but I think that might have to do with the fact they probably already had a ax1200 and it was fine when the evga came out

It sure does when i comes to efficiency. One of the first digital PSUs on the market the AX1200i. It should not be compared with the normal AX1200.
Johhny guru gave it a 9.6! http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&file=print&reid=300

But it's wierd that my example just shut down like that.. Hmm i will test with different PCI-E outs and cables tomorrow. It's 01:38PM here.
Maybe i can make it draw more evenly from several rails. wink.gif

I've heard much about the EVGA supplys to. smile.gif

so what are 2x 780 Ti KPEs with EK blocks (acetal + Nickel) and Original KPE backplates worth. If I remember correctly my cards also have consecutive serial #s but have to go back and check the boxes. Going to sell mine, now that i switched over to Titan X's.

Thanks
