Will my system work with Debian?

Thread Starter
I have a RIVBE, 4930K, and GTX 680. Is this going to work? Are there Asus drivers for the RIVBE with Linux? How do I overclock my GPU in Linux? How do I take the bloatware out of Debian?

I don't think it should give you any problem, but I'd probably go with Debian testing.

Doubt it, I'd do all the OCing in the BIOS anyways. That and all the drivers should be in the kernel itself.

I'd like to know this myself, as far as I know however, you can't.

Install from a live version instead of the full multi dvd set and that is as non bloatware as it gets. Lightest de is lxde. Lighter would be without any gui at all, you could always do that and do your own WM and such.

I usually use just the 1st ISO in the set. Does the live version have less bloat

first dvd of set is a full 4 gigs+. The live images of gnome & kde is 1.2 gigs or so, xfce and lxde are below a gig, debian 7.2 iso command line only is 460 megs. I'm assuming that means less bloat. I use live because my internet is 3rd world.

*EDIT* Nevermind. The whole set is 3 dvds and not separated by de. I don't know for sure but maybe it's so big because you can choose which de you install.

The whole DVD contain a plethora of extra and 3rd party software for those without good internet ( basically the whole repo ). I use the CD images as they're all relatively small ~700MB. Or the NetInstall which is I think ~214MB.

There really is no "bloatware" in the Windows sense. But any distribution and desktop environment you choose is going to have a set of preinstalled programs. To get around this you simply have to install the base desktop environment without the additions that the full group package contains. Some distributions like Arch make this extremely easy, other distributions not so much.
