Have to disagree with you on that. Companies make next to nothing on consoles an often run them as a loss leader as the money is in the games or rather the license they pay microsoft. Microsoft probably couldn't care less which console they bought the games for so long as they buy games for a microsoft product. Some people will possibly even buy the game on both platforms if they upgrade and still want to play it

I agree with you though that if they had really wanted to push Xbones then making titanfall exclusive would have helped (I certainly bought an original Xbox after playing Halo for about 5 minutes!) but clearly that isn't their strategy.

Maybe the development of titanfall was started way before they knew when the Xbone would be released or even successful and didn't want to risk ploughing loads of money into a game they then couldn't sell. Maybe they didn't know how good titanfall would be and wanted to avoid any backlash over it... who knows the reasons but I'm happy to bet that Microsoft know the market a lot better than me!

Either way, historically you get games developed for last generation hardware for several years after the launch of next gen, makes sense as people have the infrastructure and skills to do it. They were still releasing PS2 games into 2013 which is a waaaay after the PS3 was released (Fifa 14 was released on the PS2 for example)

Think of it, A lot of those folks might have bought an Xbox One to get Titanfall if it wasnt on the 360 as well... Now theres a lot of folks who have seen the bad news about resolution this and that and are simply thinking "I'll get Titanfall for my 360 and get a PS4"

I just think the arguement of "Well theres a lot of people who still have 360s" is kinda a moot point, We dont want to move 360s or sell 360s. The 360 is the past and the One is the future, So we should be putting our ducks into giving the One exclusives that enable it to sell more and get enough of an installed base that we ensure future exclusives. While Microsoft still has a lot of exclusive content agreements (like the DLC ones) I cant say those are going to last forever if the One's sales continue to suck.

Then again I fully admit to thinking the 360 lived too long and needed to be put to pasture 2 years ago.

I completely agree with your comments

However, It's MS and EA... if they see a chunk of money to be made out of it and there's demand for it, then it's inevitable

Theres more to it than just one game of course. Its just well.. lets be honest, the Xbox One is not doing well..

And while yes, companies make money off the software more than the hardware, the fact is hardware sales and adoption will equal more software (and thus money) to be made. Look at the Wii U for instance, Look how amazing thats doing... Oh wait, except its failing, it has ZERO third party support because.. well I suspect 2 reasons, One the oddball controller and two the fact the console itself just isnt selling.

Im concerned that going into Q3/Q4 2014 that multiplatform title development is going to prioritize the PS4 copy over the Xbox One which is going to just further the gap between the consoles. IE, we're going to see more rough ports with bad optimization which means the One is stuck upscaling 720p/60 versus the PS4 running 1080p/60, the One is capable of 1080p/60 (Forza 5 and also Halo is confirmed to be shooting for 1080p/60)

I just see the Titanfall thing as a massively missed opportunity to push the sales of the Xbox One up. The loss in sales from a possible 360 copy would be paid back in other Xbox One software attach rates.

And for the record YES I LIKE MY XBOX ONE! Even with its flaws. Im less fanboying and more discussing how the Xbox One can come back from its sales setbacks, Which I want to happen because I like competition in the marketplace.

Ha it was on my second monitor while I was getting some work done. Just watched the first five minutes or so. Though, it was nice to see some more gameplay. It really made me excited for release!

Preload on Origin is up. It definitely comes out to be a sizable download.

LOL. They said it was a 21GB download, 48GB install. What's 50GB doing there? kookoo.gif

Me wonders if it will actually be 50GB download...100GB install.

I HAS ALL THE TEXTURES IN THE WORLD.
