Oh and by the way, in my experierence the easiest tubing to work with is 3/8 1/2 or if you want a thicker tube go for the 5/8 od

I would advise against pairing a Lamptron controller with Gentle Typhoon fans.
I own both and the GT fans have a humming sound when plugged on the Lamptron.
Basically my GT's are completely silent below 1100 rpm, but not if hooked up to the Lamptron.
Having two fans running side by each, one on 5v wire, and the other on the Lamptron, really lets you notice that humming/ticking sound.

Honnestly, I've owned several controllers.and I consider them all garbage. The Lamptron Touch I own now is the nicest of them, but still garbage to me.
If you must get a Lamptron, get the manual ones with the turn dials, not the automated ones, like the Touch.

On my next build, I will use a simple SPDT rocher switch to flip my fans from the 12w wire (2150 rpm), to the completely silent 5w wire (950 rpm). Cheap, reliable, clutter free, and simple.

I beleive your 1850 rpm GT's would work equally well on that switch.
12v 1850 rpm for performance/mining/gaming/folding, and 5v 850 rpm for complete silence when surfing or lighter load.

Cool, maybe I will do that switch idea. I like it.. I'm certainly no electrician, so that'll be my next post I'm sure.. Haha. I definitely thing some cool looking switches are in store...

I too have the lamptron touch paired with 2150rpm Gentle Typhoons and have had none of the issues that Pepe mentioned. The touch is also not fully automated as Pepe makes it sound. It can also be controlled manually. I personally have only used the automatic mode once and didn't like it since it ramps the fans up to 100% as soon as they pass the defined temperature threshold.

Try this:
Plug one of your GTs on a 5v wire to get a speed of around 950 rpm.
Than plug an other GT on your Lamptron and pull it down to the same 950 rpm.
Have them running simultanioysly, and one next to each other.

The humming/ticky becomes obvious.
I am not the only one who brings out this humming sound.
Might not make a dif on a single fan. But 8 of them will definately be annoying to me.
But it all depends on your tolerance to sound. It's very subjective.

Like I said, I don't notice the problem you mentioned at all so I have no reason to try it. Not saying you are wrong, just saying I've never noticed it on the 6 Typhoons I had going at the same time on my 480 and 240 rads. But, like you said, maybe I just have a higher tolerance for noise

In case anyone cares to tune in... I've gotten the parts, and I have the 'outside' build up and running.. a 290x, and an unlocked 290 I picked up for the time being.. I still have (3) more 290x sitting in boxes here.. Might be a good idea to sell off this unlockable 290, but anyway.. Considering you folks helped me out in the spec'ing process, I figured you might want to see where I ended up....Here is where my build log will be:
