They said to voltage-control PWM fans instead or controlling them via pwm?

That's weird! But I'll try and see if it works, even if I'm not sure that voltage control would get me at or below 500rpm

Ps: @ciarlatano what fans did you buy to replace the A14's? According to Thermalbench the A14's are the best 140mm fans (tie with Vardars) for airflow/noise ratio

Their startup speed is approximately 800 rpm using voltage rather than PWM. It is the PWM control that ticks, if you don't use it, it doesn't tick.

For the 140mm I went back to the F140SP. Much quieter below 1200 rpm and startup speed around 400 rpm. For 120mm, I use F120MP, GTs, Swiftech Helix (a really underrated and underused fan) or eLoops on rads, BQ Silent Wings 2 and Noctua Redux for case fans. I would use the NF-F12, but the whole Band Aid color scheme doesn't work in my rig.

If I had to change my 3x intake NF-A14's case fans (2x front and 1x bottom in an Enthoo Pro), what would you guys recommend?

I am looking for a super-quiet case intake fan that can actually move some air to cool my power hungry 5820k and 980Ti (I had some old 14cm yate loons that were totally silent but didn't move any air biggrin.gif )

I remember that the Corsair AF140 Quiet fans were really quiet, but would they move enough air when obstructed by the front dust filter? Are there any better choices available?

Thanks in advance smile.gif

What are your CPU and GPU cooler intake air temps compared to room air temps? You have some of the best fans right now. Maybe it's time to quit trying to find 'better fans' and concentrate on making sure components are getting the coolest air possible.

Case airflow more about how the air flows than what fans are being used. But few people face really concentrate on where and how the air flows inside the case.

Amen, @doyll.....amen to that. Too many people hung up on changing fans rather than figuring out how to use what they have. Funniest part is that most of the fan changes I see are to fans that aren't as good as the ones they are replacing. Which, btw, would certainly be the case with a switch to Corsair fans as suggested. Talk about overpriced/overhyped trash....

However some fans really can't perform in a given situation like my Be Quiet SW2's in a Define R5 :|

I think I may have found the sweetspot between cooling and noise at last biggrin.gif

I keep my 3 intake NF-A14's at 820rpm, rear PH-140SP at 600rpm, Gpu fans with default curve and DRP3 at around 1200rpm (can't hear it over my noctuas) and after hours of playing BF4 1440p @ 165Hz (that's more than 4k 60fps) my max temps are (ambient temp of 20°C when I power on the pc):
- 72°C on the overclocked 980Ti (1450/7800mhz)
- 59°C on the hottest core of my overclocked 5820K @ 4.3ghz

Also, case has positive pressure (checked with smoke) and I feel like it's nice to have it this way, but I've heard lots of people saying negative is better (even though it seems nonsense to me) redface.gif

Those who believe "negative case pressure is better" do not know the truth of airflow. Optimum cooling is all about supplying cool air to component by removing all of their heated air from the case without it contaminating their cool intake air. The only effect positive and negative pressure have is that air moves from high to low trying to equalize the pressure.

What goes into a case must come out of case.
What goes out of case must come into case.
As simple as that.
as far as i care positive will always be better since you'd hopefully bring less dust in if your intakes are properly filtered.

nobody ever tries neutral pressure? tongue.gif

The only pressure involved in my builds is what the fans require to create airflow .. because if there is no pressure difference there is o airflow. biggrin.gif
