Better Perfomance?

Thread Starter
Ok, I have the Armor LCS case and I am trying to better the cooling. I have modified the top of the case for better air flow and have installed a side fan for the GPUs, but I want better temps on the CPU.

I have got some zerex super coolant on order which I am replacing the TT green stuff with, which may be a bit better. But I idle @ 43c (on 24hrs) and want it lower.

Can you get liquid coolers that fit into drive bays, but that are not so good you need to worry about condensation? I will make one I think, but at a later date and want a short term fix!

Really looking for suggestions on better performance, but dont want to replace everything!

Before anyone here says it's a high idle temperature for watercooling, please note he has a QX6700 which can toast eggs in no time.

I can only suggest you to get a better radiator - or - get another waterblock.
I think I heard that the TT Armor LCS watercooling stuff isn't really good, and good air would match it.

The thing is, the Radiator is kinda built in, it has a rack and fits in the front of the case, and I would only wanna replace it if it was with some sort of electronic cooling, is there no drive reservoir that can regulate the temp of the collant? Thats what I really want, but havent seen em before

What cooling kit are you using?

Well...Tt h20 is to blame...hwo much do you have in your loop...cuz a 40c idle doesnt seem that bad for what you are using. Have you tried a higher output fan on your rad? How a bout moving the rad to the outside for lower ambient temps? Remove some unneeded tubing or shorten them if possible......

You have a mediocre h20 system giving you more than OK temps for what you are running. Im not sure what the TDW of the QX6700 is...but I dont think its over 130W, you might be just above that w/ your OC......w/ only one 120mm rad your probably maxxed out as far as dissapation goes.... er do you have the larger 120mm x 2 rad?..more info please.

love to help

I want to correct somethin you asked. Don't want you to be confused.

Condensation is caused when your temps are lower than room temp. You cannot achieve that without TEC or phase. Watercooling can only lower your temps to right above ambient (it can't take all the energy away so you can't have them at ambient, but they can be close).

A better 240 Rad might help if your pump can handle it....Or higher CFM fans might also help a lot....I have no idea what the head and flow are on that one....Danger Den :: Radiators :: Black Ice Series :: GTS Stealth Radiator :: Stealth GTS 240 Black Ice

I agree w/ ira-k...unless you upgrade your pump, I would get some higher cfm fans, also on the back of your case as well as it should help 'ease' some of the pressure into the case and help circulation from the back of the rad...*One thing I would do for sure is put a really good fan on your NB, to blow the heat it makes away from the cpu...nvidia based chipsets run the NB hot. I have a 570 in one rig...I flipped the mobo upside down so the heat would rise into the vid card instead....lowered my cpu temps 6c and raised my GPU temps 4c!
