New HTPC

Thread Starter
Hello,

I am using some old gear of mine to make an HTPC. I have ordered a new mobo and fractal 1000 case. I was wondering which processor I should put in: amd 955 or bulldozer 8150. I will be mostly using this for movies but will also want to play some dolphin as well. The mobo has HD3000 on it...I assume ill have to get a better gfx card to play dolphin on good settings.

Cheers,

Cheers,

You say that you want to use an AMD cpu on an Intel board .
Both cpu's are more than enough for an HTPC

I'm assuming he means the radeon hd3000, think they usually come on the 760 chipest motherboards. If you are buying a new CPU i would go with the 8150, most emulators are CPU dependent.

I am not buying a new CPU. I have both lying around...just bought a 650 ti as a video card. The only thing I am worried about is bad amd performance in dolphin.

My sig rig is close to what you are doing. I haven't had to many issues when I have tried dolphin. Although it has only been with GameCube games as I don't have Bluetooth on it.

Nice, Yeah I still am waiting for the stuff to arrive at NCIX. Then the building begins. Needs a new hardrive as I think just a 1.5tb is not enough.

I ran A Phenom II 965 BE never overclocked, paired it with a 550ti, and pcsx2 ran kinda well. If you OC the Phenom II, and buy a 7850 or 7870, you can have a great emulation HTPC. My PCSX2 emulator runs smooth running an ISO. of Star ocean, till the end of time, and FFX,

Is the 650ti going to be enough? I was told it was good. Games I want to play are super mario world (Wii) and Super mario galaxy 2.
