Well, in the booklet, it explains that the Jmicron drivers can be used for RAID, in fact it even shows you how! But when i follow the instructions, bugger all happens.

I am starting to think that i may RMA the board and get a new P5B...

Im pretty sure that if it was summat wrong with your board, it wouldnt work very well generally. I dont think its damaged as it worked fine on single hd didn't it?

Have you unplugged the drive with Windows on it now? (400GB Hitatchi I believe). And try to flash back to 0711 I think it is.

Yea, i have unplugged my main Windows drive as i thought it would mess up the Master boot record.

I will try flashing back to 0711 or whatever the last one was.

Well... its installing... but my Windows key doesn't fit in the boxes provided.

I had to change my key because it wasn't accepting it, and i did this legit over the phone with Microsoft, and they gave me 9 sets of 6 digit numbers which i had to enter...

What do i do?

EDIT: Another thing, the RAID was set up as 0. I thought this meant that the discs mirrored each other for better performance. I RAIDed to 80gb discs, so why in explorer does it show up as one 157gb disc? Should it not be just one 80gb disc?
Raid 0 is stripped for better performanced, mirrored is for safety, everything is backed up.

Sorry!, that was a bit hard to understand. I have got my disks in RAID 0 and Windows is installed correctly. It worked after i made three changes:

Decreased memory from DDR2 800 to DDR2 667
Enabled Legacy Disk A
Put both the hard disks on the black SATA ports as opposed to the red ones

Thanks a lot for everyones suggestions, it was really appreciated. But im sure ill be back with some other problem soon!

One last thing. the 2 drives are in RAID 0 as confirmed by Intel Matrix storage manager, but the capacity appears as 157gb. Shouldn't it be 80gb as both disks are in RAID?

Thanks,

Alex

No. RAID0 keeps the total size of the disks added to together which is right, 160GB. RAID1, or RAID0+1 will only give you 80GB but wont warrant a performance increase. If you dont understand, wiki "RAID".

No, because the total capacity in Raid 0 is just under the sum of the total capacities of the two disks. It is STRIPING, so you get the sum of the two disk capacities, all they do is SHARE parts of a file.
