Build Log: No name yet, but share your thoughts.

So Some time ago I set forth to build my first gaming rig. I was on a limited budget and far far away from easy parts access. I currently live in the UAE (where Dubai is) so finding parts here at a reasonable price is difficult. I was tired of console gaming so I sold my 360 and PS3, repaired a few computers for my clients here and came up with some money to buy parts. So with my $500 I went forth to find parts. I ended up with a i3-2100, Gigabyte mobo, 8gb corsair vengeance ram, Gigabyte PSU and a radeon 6850. I already had some 2.5" hard drives and a monitor. I picked up a cheap case slapped the parts in and gamed away.
Fast forward a few months later my wife and I decide to move back to the states and i sell it all, last minute we decide to stay so now I'm out a machine and i had already bought a laptop to use as a place holder. I tried to game with the laptop and it just wasn't for me. Went home for the summer to visit family and ended up building a low power rig for my mom for web browsing and the building bug hit hard. So we get back to our place here in the UAE and i decide I'm gonna Build a nice rig, knowing that we will be back in the states for Christmas.
I hit the net hard and try to find the best prices i could, I sell some spare car parts i had in my parents garage and my laptop and manage to get about $600 bucks together. With that and some awesome christmas gifts from my mother and wife the build you see here is what I was able to get together so here are the pics. The parts list is in my sig, all i have left to get are more case fans and a heatsink. I would love some suggestions on a good heatsink that will fit on the Maximus VI Impact and the Prodigy with 2 fans in the roof. I want to pick up the BitFenix Spectre Pro LED red 200mm or 230mm fan for the front intake and some of the smaller ones for the rest of the case until I get back to the states in the summer, then my wife gave me the green light for a full water setup thumb.gif

well, it was a while ago, I think i saw 40+ FPS on BF3 on high in 720p. The 6850 was a great card and was very very playable on all the games i had. I mainly used it because that rig was a hackintosh and that gpu was easy to get working under OSX. My friends son actually has that rig right now and he is playing the snot out of it lol.

All he need is a 450 watts PSU so spend money on quality not quantity

Well soon I hope to delid/lap a celeron 331 D, sleeve cables and overclock, just as a little practice for when I get my PC. I kinda feel bad for the old 2005 PC. thumb.gif Might not be a cpu left after I try delid. Not on purpose, just lack of experience. But thanks to OCN I have learnt a lot. biggrin.gif
