Can a Q6600 play BF4 at low settings at possibly at least 60 fps? - Page 3

Thread Starter
Hey guys thanks for all your discussion about the topic, ive read every single comment posted and ive also thought about saving up for an i7 920 or probably just go all out next paycheck and try to snag a used 2500k that i can hopefully use in a "distant future 2nd build".

Theres no reason to get the Q6600 now. I used to have a Q6600 back in Battlefield 2 days that was overclocked. rolleyes.gif The video card is a 560ti and i dont plan on buying another video card. Ill probably throw one of my cards onto my secondary build once Maxwell is released.

My main concern is... i cant find any 1366 boards? I guess theyre really old so im not surprised. I would go the 1366 route but i dont know where to get a board... i live in San Diego, California, USA. Can anyone suggest something? biggrin.gif If i get the 2500k ill have to wait a bit longer..... but its just one of my many choices.

Doing anything else would stutter the bejesus out of your toon, and the whole game would look like a stutter lag fest, wherein you would press "fire" and your weapon would fire at best after 5 seconds and wherein you would see everything playing at "Full Ultra" Slow Motion.

No...I'd call it every setting on maximum and 30FPS and up...

I've played on that system and it wasn't stuttering at all.

BF4 isn't really CPU intensive.

Should be fine I used to play BF3 on my q9300 with a GTX 460 and could easily max it once I got my 670. So I imagine your setup would look fine although you should probably think about upgrading in the near future.

My HTPC runs a Q6600 @ stock 2.4 (until I get it under water) on an Asus P5e-V Hdmi board with a single hd 5770 and I can play BF4 on low at 1080p on my 50 led tv. Only play once and a while on this setup. Usually an air map with an xbox controller.

My normal BF4 game play is on a Core 2 Quad as well. I play high settings @ 1680x1050 on my OC'd QX6850 at 3.6ghz with a HD 7950.

The Q6600 bottlenecks a 560 Ti a fair a bit, i had a system with both in it once.
And the Q6600 isn't an extremely solid performer for most new titles either, heck even a Sandy Bridge Pentium can beat it in some games, however they come pretty close in productivity - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/404?vs=53

Overclock that quad core if you haven't, you'll see the FPS fly up immediately when paired with a 560 Ti.

I tried bf4 with direct x and my 6300 with 4 core enabled with my 7950 on a 64 map player at ultra i can confirm that a core 2 quad overclocked 3.0ghz up can run the game pretty well... even my e8400 was able to run bf3 at medium depending on map and i find bf4 less cpu intensive...

With mantle my fx 6300 fly over 60 fps biggrin.gif

BF4 is substantially more CPU intensive than BF3.

I am not sure I understand what you mean since the video you linked is a) Single player (and during the early part of the campaign which isn't all that cpu heavy-later on it gets ugly,bf3 campaign runs better on dual cores) b) laggy/choppy as hell. Go visit BF4 official thread on these forums and you'll see people with overclocked haswell i5s reporting 100% CPU usage-BF4 is absolutely and phenomenally brutal on the CPU, much heavier than its father.
