Can a Q6600 play BF4 at low settings at possibly at least 60 fps? - Page 4

No, beta was indeed stuttering but the game is still insatiable when it comes to CPU power.

i5-4670k@4.35Ghz sitting between 90-100% usage.

Heh, says right there below the chart...BF4 doesn't care what your CPU is as long as it has four threads available
That test is single player, which is vastly less CPU intensive than a large map with 64 other human players. BF4 also uses pretty much as many threads as you throw at it equally, with DX11 I sit between 60%-80% usage on all 8 cores

BF3 could be quite brutal too, but mostly in certain spots on large maps with 64 players.

Yeah,I don't disagree with that. Player count and destruction were the biggest CPU hogs there due to physics calculations I suppose (BF3 was quite revolutionary with its thread usage). This applies to BF but there are other factors there as well (levolution/post levolution effects, animated lighting sources etc.)

It me or their is a problem with the game usage?

The i5 90-100% O.o

Oh and btw im playing maxed out except aa still i can run aa over 50fps with mantle depending on map i can get over 100 fps but im gpu bottlenecked.. and cpu it look like...

If you're having FPS issues with Mantle I'd have thought it would be due to a GPU bottleneck, with mantle on, no AA/HBAO, Ultra everything else except terrain decoration and my 280x I have never seen lower than 60fps. However with MSAA on 4x I get regular drops to 55 in certain locations or during explosions.

Do you think it can play lowest possible settings no AA possibly even play it in 720p? I just want to make a super cheap secondary build so i can have someone play BF4 with me when theyre over at my house biggrin.gif

I already have the GPU, i just want to know if i could just get away with buying a used Q6600? For less than the price of an i3, i can get a lower speed quad core which i understand wont bottleneck the GPU if playing a CPU intensive game like Battlefield 4 since it has four cores instead of an i3's two cores + hyperthreading (useless)

What can you guys say?

I'd not be surprised if you can get decent performance on an overclocked Q6600... But I think you'd be better off with a 6300 or an i3 as those old processors are significantly worse per core-clock than newer ones, you'd probably need to OC it quite a bit to avoid bottlenecking on the CPU.

i3 4130 or 4330 and a H87/H81 or some other cheap motherboard would probably do fine. Otherwise a FX6300 will cost you almost the same for probably better performance.

AMD FTW.

You will need to spend more than 50 bucks on a motherboard that can OC the old quad core... I have an old P5KPL lying around and an E7200 that is waiting to get a proper board to be OCd on... The 3-phase KPL struggles with the dual core at STOCK... I was looking for boards to oc my E7200 on, and most of the high end ones are 140USD+ atm...

I see they teach you good grammar in Canada. I remember last time I went to Hong...eh Vancouver, ppl advised that I should learn Mandarin Chinese or Iranian to make my way around the city, but from what I recall people tended to deal with the Past Tense and Past Participles not very bad. I see things have worsened considerably since I was in Canada last time.

Who knows, in 50 years even English might stop being an official language.
