I need help, big time! I can't get my computer to reboot, the only way I can get it to start is to reset the CMOS. BTW I tried every BIOS in the Tmods disk, still my problem isn't solved. Please help quick guys! Ohh yeah, what about the debug port?

stick with the 704 bios and it's got to be a harware problem...

please list ALL hardware with make and model #numbers and what you have hooked to the board....

you still have this out of the case right?

Why are you flashing your bios and loading windows when you have a system that obviously has a problem? You'll end up with either a corrupt bios and or a corrupt windows install. The recommended build is to do a minimal build outside the case, CPU, 1 stick of ram in the orange slot nearest the edge of the board, vga card and ps2 keyboard and mouse. push the on button on the motherboard and post into the bios, load optimised defaults, set the bios to run memtest form their reboot. Run memtest 10 passes as least if no errors on ram then shut it off and replace that stick with the other and repeat. Once your system has tested stable with the 1 stick error free then install the OS hard drive and 1 optical drive.Disable memtest, set boot priority to the optical drive and load windows. This has been a tried and true method for these boards. Minimal build keeps the area to search for possible instability to a minimum. the DFI lanparty line doesn't Like cheap ram your ultras may produce errors and thus need to have the timings manualy set to eliminate the erors. If you flashed your bios with an unstable system [Ram creating errors] then how can you expect a clean flash? Much less a clean windows install. Good Luck. Here to help fabe

I don't think the windows instal is currupted though, it seems to would fine. Ohh yeah, it is also telling me CMOS checksum error on boot and I have to press f1 to continue, you got any ideas? i have to go to sleep, later.

But as I posted earlier...the bad checksum is probably a partial corrupt bios or ram that is erroring...

I thought I made it clear that before you flash the bios the ram should be error free... if your ram is in fact erroring the bios flash will be corrupt.... if you keep playing with the bios and have erroring ram you may end up with a dead bios and a dead board....

You need to run the test and make sure you are error free before you preceed any further and discard to windows install.... you never install windows on a unstable rig... you are just asking for more headache then you want....

also if your bios has a option for the 6800 in the genie bios make sure you check that...my bios has that option as not all play well with the 6800 card...

also make sure your ram timings are set right... on the dram page set the ram to either 200-1:1 or manual... not auto...

in on the bottom of the genie bios tab...

A long shot to consider being I've seen it more than once and even on my own MB.. SLD-DR. Check to be sure the CMOS chip is seated correctly, some are not installed squarely and with time can have contact issues.

if you bought the UT sli-dr you got the bios removeal tool... just give a good puch to make sure it's in...not too hard though..

for memtest I suggest test #5.... run for 10 passes...if it passes move to test #8 and run 10 more passes...

pay attention to the 6800 card thing in the genie bios if it pertains to you...

make sure you are bootinhg from a single drive and have it plugged into the nVidia ports... and make sure you have RAID disable on both the nvidia and SIL3114 chips...

When I flashed to the 704-2bta bios...I got the bad check sum error... but a cmos clear covered that.... did you read the PROPER way to flash a dfi bios or did you just flash it...?

may make all the difference in the world...

My UT LP came with a tweaser like tool to remove it. Make sure you don't touch the contacts with your hands.
BTW, if it is ****ed, like mine was, you may not be able to get the tool under one edge Just to be sure, I used one rubber glove to handle the chip so not to ESD it.
