3800x2 fails

Thread Starter
I have a AMD 3800x2 with a A8V deluxe mother board. I have had this motherboard overclocked to 2500, but recently returned it to standard.

A few weeks ago I removed the IDE hardrives and installed SATA drives.
I nopw am no longer able to overclock the machine past 2200. I can't even get it to boot past that, and then am forced to restrore thee machine from a backup image. I have tried it 3 times over the last few days, at times it will go to 2300, but never any further.

What do the SATA drives have to do with it? When its booting over the 22,2300 it doesn't seem to find the hardrives??

Can anyone shed any light on this?

CPU:AMD 3800X2

You have four SATA ports. You are currently using 2 of them, so 2 are not being used. Remove the hard drives, and plug them back into the OTHER two.

And why is it your processors fault?

In your picture the ones circled on the right are the ones I am using.
The two on the left say SATA Raid 1 and SATA Raid 2. If I'm not using a raid configuration can I still use them? What do I set the bios for? IDE or Raid? Can you tell me why that fixes it?

Thanks a lot.

the X2 3800 is a very good processor IMHO. I would've kept mine if I didn't totally screw up my retention clip so it wouldn't make good contact with the core when I popped the IHS off. Only thing I could complain about is the needing of ALOT of Vcore after like 2.75Ghz
