Thief PC Gaming Discussion and Performance Thread - Page 25

I've been playing thief gold/ thief 2 fan missions for years now, til this day I still play a couple of fan missions from time to time. In my opinion this game is good, not amazing but good. I've been taking my time playing on master thief custom settings. I've spent around 15 hours and now just finishing chapter 3. This game definitely has it flaws such as no free jump, a few voice/ audio bugs, no hammerite/ pagan faction, garrett voice actor change, no SDK planned, etc. For the most part its been an enjoyable experience. The Atmosphere, environment and music matches Thief spot on (aside from the dumb combat music) I can't comment on combat as I have not tried it yet. It is NO thief classic and it is NO dishonored(I absolutely do not understand all the comparisons, they are two completely different stealth games.) For the fans of pure stealth, this is an incredible game, if you are looking for something generic, fast pace, and don't have patience then this game definitely isnt for you.

Well I bought it on Saturday morning for £15.45 from one of the CD key places. Totally worth that price

Game is nice looking , interesting and quite good fun to play. Played the old Thief years ago , was not that keen on it but I like this

Couple of times it only lets you jump down or climb through something if you are facing/standing the correct way. This could be annoying and fans of the original won't be happy

Reminds me a lot of dishonoured , lots of paths to get to your goal , stealth and the theme of the city is pretty close. Suppose they can say that Dishonoured copied the original Thief game

Folk saying a couple of pages back that older games are better than their modern version - absolute bollocks that is. Games now are the best they have ever been

From a tech view point I think the new game is nice but playing the old game you get more of a sense of freedom in the play and the plot/storyline was much better. Having played every game in this series I was excited about the release and while it is a decent game it does not have the draw I felt in the others of the series.

I don't know , I tried to play the Thief gold last week and I gave up just after the tutorial bit. This happens a lot with me on old games mind you , I buy them for nostalgia sake and when I actually go to play them I think "hmm should have just left that in the past "

This new Thief game is good though. Even diehard fans of the original would have to agree

I got to chapter four , at the end of the mission , could not figure out the puzzle at all. Will give it another go tonight

The looting gets boring fast, because its looong, tedious and repetitive and rarely ever any actual unique loot, just copy pasta. Coins and stuff just lying around shouldnt need a long animation to loot.
Opening windows that you already opened gets boring fast... because its a stupid QTE event everytime and it takes soooooo long.

Not to mention, in master or whatever, you fail your mission if you KNOCK OUT a civilian... uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh k
(Or if a little stupid bird notices you... cant hide from birds, AI got radar so they know where you are apparently when the birds notice, thus you fail mission immediately)

If it was a good game, the majority would agree, but they do not.

But then again, some people believe Infestation Survivor Stories aka WarZ scam game is a good game.

There is actual unique loot , some of those are coins but you can put the unique stuff in your house

QTE's - every game has them. Well every AAA game - deal with it

Stealth - not sure what people want here ? It's fine

Master difficulty does say that tbf. You can't touch anybody or will fail. I would not bother playing it on such a high difficulty. Pointless. Just tell me the story and let me enjoy myself

At the end of the day the game is not going to win any awards but for the £15 I paid for it , it's good value and quite a nice game

7.5/10

Uh... every AAA game got QTEs? Interesting, thats new. Nope.
Shouldnt need QTE to open a window, just a simple button press: E would be enough. Shouldnt have to wear out my keyboard just to open a window. (same with games that forces you to spam left/rightclick x20000 times)

Yes -SOME- unique loot. But most of it is the same, seens the same masks like 30 times.

Stealth? uh... knocking people out = mission fail... how isnt that stealthy, knocking someone out? Hasnt detected you, person is knocked out.... and hidden.. Nope - instant fail.

4/10

4/10 ? Away , it's a much better game than that

Not a big fan of QTE's either but come on they are in loads of games now. Hell even Metro 2033 had me tapping E at bits

The Stealth is fine. You're not meant to knock anyone out of your playing that way. It's all I have been doing.

4/10 is extremely harsh... As I said it's not going to win any awards but it's a nice good wee game.

Why cant I knock them out? Its part of stealth.
Why else do you have a blackjack if you cant use it?

Stupid limitations they put in to add artificial difficulty...

Well the game is a bit like dishonoured stopping you from killing people but rather than guilt tripping you into not killing everyone , it just says that won't get this achievement or have to do it this way

I do like how you can remove the map marker and stuff like that. Think dishonoured let you do that too

I would not bother playing it on the harder difficulties , does just seem like hard work that.
