You're talking about maybe 10 minutes of the game like it's throughout the entire game and they are using THAT to draw people in, you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

The gameplay in Thief is very fun, they aren't "resorting" to anything cheap like "oh hey guys we have nekked girls come play our game!"

No it isnt.
Repeated loot animation is literally 90% of the game.
Re-opening windows that you already opened, via a QTE, everytime, is stupid.
Guards provide no challenge as they cant see you, in very bright areas, standing right infront of em.

stay in the shadows and they can't see you but as soon as you come out of the shadows they can

Agree about the QTE events though

Got about half way with this game and gave up. Will go back to it at some point. story seems OK

"shadows" what exactly is a shadow? Everything in the game is grey and is well lit. The AI must be blind. You're standing in a corner and its bright as day, even from their perspective. Artificial difficulties, seriously, program better AI, provide a better challenge. (an optional for those of us who WANT challenge in our games and not daddy daycare games)

I mean seriously, look at this example pic:

Thats literally how bright it is everywhere in the game.
Yet the AI cant spot you and no, Im not speaking of hiding partially in a closet, but actually standing up (or crouched) infront of one.

Just what I said , why the aggression ?

There are shadows and there are areas that are lit. Stay in the shadows nobody can see you. Walk out of the shadows and the guards can see you. That is why you get the water arrows and things like that , put out the torches that are on the walls

While it is abnormally bright when brightness is correctly set in that image the person has it a bit too high to complain about such things in a stealth game. I have played every stealth game imaginable and none really have absolute darks by default you have to manually go in and turn it down. I prefer dropping it as low as possible just to add some challenge and immersion. Nothing more immersion breaking than this:

Game is still terrible for a Thief title and only mediocre from a stealth game standpoint.

Lowering brightness adds challenge?

A stealth game, during the night, should be -dark. if there is no full moon or lightsource, it should be near pitchblack.
Sadly, in games, nights are more like a cloudy daytime.

The entire game is gray and well lit.
There are no shadows.
Objects dont even throw shadows from lightsources or lightning.

I get water arrows? Why?
I could spacebar across the sun and they wouldnt notice it.

I could have a flashlight on myself and they wouldnt notice it.

If you really want to talk about realism, the human eye is not that powerful. It stands to reason that with your character being in the shadows all the time his eyes are more adjusted to that lack of light making it seem not as dark to him (you) compared to a normal person whos eyes have not adjusted to the low amount of light. The game very clearly shows you what shadows are "absolute" dark that you can hide in without being seen, even if they look straight at you. This is also not un-realistic, speaking from experience from my childhood playing Hide-and-seek at night, it is entirely possible (assuming you're wearing dark colors) to be still in a shadow, have someone look directly at you, and not see you.

I understand you want it to be as dark as it would be in real life, but here is where they have to break away from realism to maintain playability. If they made it that realistic, you'd be running into walls constantly, and straining your eyes to see what's going on.

Regardless of how bright you perceive the area to be, the game still clearly indicates what areas are considered "shadows".
