Benq xl2420t - horizontal grey lines

Hello everybody,

I've recently completed my first build and I am experiencing an issue with my Benq xl2420t monitor.
I should note that I am using an EVGA GTX780 sc w/acx graphics card and the latest Nvidia driver (332.21).

So, here's the issue I'm hoping you can help with: at 144hz I can see very thin horizontal grey lines
in the upper-right hand corner of my screen. These lines are constant, and completely static: they do not pulse, wave, or in anway change position. Reducing the refresh rate mitigates this problem until the lines completely disappear at about 100hz.

I have seen other people comment about similar issues, although not exactly the one I am struggling with. Their solutions were a combination of the following: replace faulty DVI cable, clean install of graphics drivers, and shutting off AMA and/or Instant Mode.

I have done all of the above but the horizontal lines persist. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced
the same as well as whether anyone was aware of the root cause and fix.

Thanks a lot!

For those interested: I've contacted the retailer (Informatique.nl) and they are unfamiliar with the issue. They've suggested I bring the monitor in for them to check out and possibly replace. They also stated that they hardly ever have issues with Benq monitors. I'll update with how they resolve the problem.

I should note that other than these very thin grey lines, I love this display: great feature set, great performance, and (once calibrated) great color reproduction. It's just once you notice an issue like this its hard to ignore it again.

Update: Informatique looked at the monitor and could not recreate the issue I'm experiencing. Of course, this means that the source of the problem is likely to be the graphics card (EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX), although I find that unlikely since the lines do not extend all the way across the display.

It is a very minor issue, however. So I think I am going to try to do another driver sweep and re-install and perhaps reseating the GTX 780. If it still persists, well I'll just live with it.

I have the same problem with my XL2420T, only the lines on mine goes across the entire screen ( Horizontal lines ). I've had my monitor for more than a year, and I think it's an older model than what you have because mine only supports 120 hz.

Anyway, I don't think it's a problem with your graphics card, I think it's just the way the Instant Mode works.

The only real fix I've found is to turn off instant mode for about a minute, then turn it back on. That way I don't get the lines until i restart the monitor. Or you can just get used not having instant mode on.

Thanks for the feedback Ze9ix - and I agree, it's definetly not the graphics card. I tried your suggestion with Instant Mode, but in my case there was no change.

To be honest, it is a very minor issue with my monitor: I only notice when a window is maximized (upper right-hand corner where the minimize, maximize, and close buttons are located). During gaming or movies I don't notice it since my attention is mostly focused on the center of the screen.
