[MAXxPlanck mini]

After the completion of MAXxPlanck V2, I started working on a smaller, lighter version for my dear parents.
It uses the same style of backboard and lighting. Added a plexiglass cover, on, and reset switches.
It measure 18" wide by 16" long and 6" tall.

[Components]
This computer is going to be used for browsing the web, checking emails, and running some productivity software. The usual old people stuff. So no need for high end gear.

  • AMD A6-6400K APU
  • Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI
  • Corsair XMS3 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz
  • Corsair CX430M Power Supply
  • WD 1TB Blue HDD
  • Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD
It is set up between two shelf, there are couple of spot lights above it. Cable management will be improved.

Different orientation. I prefer this look over the previous one.

Leaving the HDD bare seemed really out of place. So I designed and printed a cover for it.

Sitting beside it's bigger brother.

Thanks for browsing and I hope you like the build! And as always, I'm open to any questions, suggestions, and feedback.
Cheers~

, great craftsmanship - as before with your previous build

...btw, some time back, I planned on converting what was the early stages of a desk-puter into a wall-puter > but someone else just called it 'Frankenputer' - it has grown to include 3 mobos, 5 PSUs, 12 GPUs, two very large cooling loops 'siamesed' across systems etc etc...no way I can mount that on a wall, at least not without causing major structural damage to the wall...SOO instead, I just look forward to your MAXxPlanck v3

Both are amazing, seeing the mini one makes me want to rip my HTPC out of it's case and do something similar to wall mount it under my tv just because of the sexy/win look

Can I ask what you are using in your cabling holes? Did you experiment with different ways of filling the holes? On my end table build I debated with myself and ended up leaving them open, but the debate isn't over yet.

In the bigger version I had nothing filling the holes, I just colored the inside edge black. This mini version I used sticky back foam sheets to cover the holes. It seems to look a little tidier.

Really like how neat and well arranged the build is, especially the hard drive cover. Does it effect hdd temps though?

Also I'm not sure about the blue leds. Perhaps warm white or yellow or red would've worked better with the surroundings. That said, could you post a pic of the led arrangement under the system cause I really love the way you managed an even lighting effect under all the parts.

EDIT : Got it from your previous builds worklog. Thanks

Would you be willing to send your plans for this as I would like to create one myself for myself. Love the look, just unsure of some things like lighting behind the base, base design, material, etc.. Want to do it correctly.. beautiful design. I have been looking for something like this for a long time. I would really appreciate the information if you are willing to part with it. OR, would you be interested in building the base and getting paid for it as an option? Can we talk?

Thanks so much for the consideration.

I am going to be doing this if you are okay with it, with these parts:

Fantastic work! as a computer engineer myself I totally respect the effort and craftmanship gone into both your builds. Would you build another if approached by someone with a generous Labor offer? Your main rig: Roughly how much money is invested? thanks. Aza

Great idea! Fantastic work too!
I think I might do something similar when I collect enough spare parts...

Although this build is over... I'm subbing anyway.
