Primochill rigid tubing kind of sucks

Thread Starter
I finely got my tubing and what a pain in the butt. Spent at least 6hrs bending and fitting then I had 2 pieces crack I don't know if black is harder to work with or what. luckily I had some 1/2 clear I had bought from the store as temp replacements. Then one fitting was leaking and I couldn't get it to stop so I ended up removing it and using barbs with rubber tubing. rolleyes.gif

I planed on using just black Primochill but as you can see that didn't happen, now I have to order more because of the bends that cracked.

Yea , I did not like it either in fact I am selling all my fittings and such for cheap!!!!!!!!! .

Not only is it a pain. but it looks cheesy and makes working on your rig a pain and dangerous . I am
scared of a tube cracking or leaking . etc so I am going back to regular tubing! .

Oh do I feel your pain LMAO take a look at pg 4 of my build log. I just piped mine with the Clear/UV Blue. Had insane bends and angles to do and wasted a lot of scrap getting it right. I had one crack while bending, was my own fault as I didn't heat it correctly. Same thing with rippling and kinking. Had a lot of uneven heating due to proximity of multiple bends close to each other. as far as the ends go, I would HIGHLY recommend a lil light sanding at a 45 angle on the edges and flat circular sanding on the face of the opening to smooth it out. Helps it seat better and keeps the O-ring in check when seated right.

That's not Primochills fault guys, that's just the nature of rigid tubing. biggrin.gif

Annealing the tubing would solve the cracking/micro-fracturing assuming that's what you're talking about.

You have my condolences for the struggles, bu that ain't Primochills fault, nor is it a fixable issue. It's rigid... That's the point. XD

As to the leaky fitting, you need a flat surface to mate with the Orings properly, grab it like a handle and run it in circles on some sand paper.

Lithium grease is wonderful too:

Waterproof, won't get caught in the loop, seals things very nicely.

Definitely not the fault of the tubing. Rigid tubing is a lot of work. If the bends are cracking, you aren't providing enough heat during the bending process. It shouldn't leak at the fitting either as long as the tubing was filed down flat ad the fitting id in all the way.

Holy crap it was a nightmare trying to get my first bend out of the pump and into the radiator. I had 4 bends all 90 degrees and each bend started after the last one. I wasted about 2 of those sticks on that 6 inch run alone. Luckily, I bought two 3 meter tubes from McMasters just as a precaution. I ended up using all but 2 feet of all the tubing I bought.

Honestly, my next build I think I'm going to go with a rigid tube with a bitspower fittings combo with NO bends. Bitspower just released a new compression fitting system for rigid tubes and I think it'll go pretty well with the myriad of available bitspower fittings.

Did you heat it with vomit? :[

Oh those are stickers.

The theme is great, the execution is far too busy.
