A review from XS.

2x1GB HK's at Newegg for $275USD shipped. REALLY CHEAP for DDR2 800 4-4-3-5 2.0V-2.1V!

1x1GB HK's for $140USD shipped.

As someone said in that XS review...a replacement for the DDR2 HZ's (with black heatspreaders)?

Yeah, BTW that was me asking the question on XS
.
Seems like they are either Hynix or high binned Promos.

I'm probably going to pick up a set of these or the crucial ballistix.

Ballistix are nice because they are guarantee D9, but the timings suck compared to the HK G.Skill
actually my crucial ballistic ddr2 800 if i just leave the mobo on spd timings it automatically sets it to 4-3-3-12 under 400mhz (like 399 and below) and will do these timings up to about 420 or so, had them at 4-3-3-9 which was the best my mobo could do except for the cas-4, couldnt get it to run cas 3 without getting errors during memtest

edit:nvm

Nice. If you get them, it would be awesome if you made a thread on your overclocking experiences with the HK sticks. I'm also interested in them.

I got These G.Skill F2-6400PHU2-2GBZX4-4-4-12 @ 1.9~2.1V I don't think they are good for this aplication because the Cas 5. I have read this board does not like Cas 5

Only $230 on Newegg I wanted some DDR2-800 for my new DFI 975X/G Mother Board. I really wanted some memory with Micron Fat body IC's but I just spent a lot on Mother Board and E6600 CPU. So I settled for the Elpida IC's I don't really Like the Color of The DIMMS They are a Pale Anodized Blue/Green It reminds me of A Pair of Kingston Hyper-X DIMMS I had that Faded after a few years. Maybe I'm being silly But I think these DIMMS SUCK! I mean my Over Clock is impressive but most others are running like 420 MHz F.S.B. I can't even run 400.

The DIMMS are rated to be 800 Mhz 4-4-4-12 But CPU-Z says 4-4-4-12 for 266 MHz and 5-5-5-15 for 400 MHz Operation. I'm running @ 5-5-5-15 and still can't get 400X9=3.6 GHz using the 533 Divider

Now I Guess I should say I have Not Given These Elpida IC's More Than 2.3 V. But I'm Not Really Running Them out of Spec. am I?

I had to Back the F.S.B. Down to 385 MHz Due to a Reboot after many hours of Gaming Yesterday. Still 3.48 GHz

I tried Orthos not at all stable with that. I got it to run @ 350X9

I read of 965 Chipsets going 480X4 can 975 Do speeds Like That?

Couple things, one 975X chipsets don't do so well with FSB's approaching 400, which is why most people use them with an E6600 (and take the hit on OC), E6700, or X6800. I doubt it's your RAM holding your OC back, and to double check try booting at 350x9 and using a 2/3 divider. If you can't boot then yes, your RAM may indeed be holding you back. I have 965 chipset and E6600 that isn't stable at 400FSB, but the RAM will do 950mhz, so I'm CPU limited which you may be too. Elpida's ,while not as spectacular as Micron's can still OC fairly well. I would try 2.3v, 5-5-5-15 and subtimings of 3-11-7-14. Worst case scenario, return the ones you have an ante up $60 for the HK's.

My PQI's with elpida's only go up to 712mhz. I am running 2.15V. However, so far I have gotten 680 mhz with timings of 3-4-3-8. I am sure I can go 700mhz.

I think it might be your fsb. Try running a higher divider.

Thanks Whodie you were right they will run at 887 Mhz on the 667 Divider I guess the Latencys of the 667 Strap are looser than the 533 Strap. Orthos ran for five min at around 72C. I would like to see how mutch better the good DIMMS from G.Skill do. CPU-Z says The DIMMS are only getting 2.28V maby I should try a little more so it droops to 2.3. I wonder if I can get lower latency to work on this strap, had to be 5's for 533.

Sounds like you are CPI limited like me. Fortunate thing is at least now you know you can run your RAM faster, which should help on SuperPi times.

It worth's a shot to try at CAS 4, worst thing that will happen is it won't boot. Best I could pull was 4-5-5-13 @ 980mhz. Just make sure if you run it at 2.3v consistently you have a fan blowing nearby, they can get hot.

On the HK's - UPS says they should be here Tuesday, so hopefully that night I'll have time to run some benchs. Goal is 1000mhz @ stock timings 4-3-4-5. If they can do that, I'll be pretty impressed for $270 and non-micron IC's

VR-Zone got a 1GB HK to DDR2 1000 4-4-3-5 with only 2.25Vdimm.
On stock voltage (2.1Vdimm) they go all the way up to DDR2 920 4-4-3-5.
Max they reached was DDR2 1200 5-5-5-15 with 2.45Vdimm.

They are now confirmed to be high binned PROMOS.

Not as great as D9GMH or D9GKX but a 2x1GB kit can be had for only $265USD, about $30 cheaper than 2x1GB Kit of G.SKILL HZs with D9GMH ICs.
