Oh it isn't?, does the Gene have cut outs on the I/O shield for the antennas like the board that's in the picture?
It's most likely the Maximus V Gene, not the VI version. They both have similar rear setups for what your talking about just not exactly the same ports.

Yup. It's the VI Impact but it's just to show how the antenna cable looks with the I/O shield.

hopefully I dont have much trouble squeezing it into a smaller case like the Silverstone Sugo SG09B or Silverstone Sugo SG10B in the future.

I think Amazon will do I've found a cable, thanks for your help guys.
Is their adequate maneuverable space when the module is installed, as in the length between it and the CPU cooler?

And is this board overkill as some believe it is? I'm looking for a Haswell CPU and Mobo and as soon as I found the MPCI-E on this it perfectly fitted my needs, are there any other MATX boards with MPCI-E that are less "overkill" with SLI support, or is this one of the best ones you can get?

It's the VI Impact which is a Mini-ITX board.

There's sufficient room between the CPU cooler zone and the combo card.
The board is sort of overkill but it's ROG, it's beautiful, and it has tons of features you might use in the future.
I'd say this is the best mATX board available right now (excluding the x79 Rampage IV Gene which is truly overkill).

Ah yes... I almost bought that but decided the Gene had more to offer while still being inexpensive and relatively compact enough for HTPC.

Yea the hardest decision I had to make was between the VI Gene and VI Impact. I wen't for the Gene since I couldn't find any good looking mini-ITX cases. NCase M1 is hard to find and too expensive.
I just could not get over the lack of internal expansion and ports. The Impact is basically half vs the Gene. And the riser cards everywhere were unattractive to look at IMHO. But I did underestimate the Impact's popularity at the time of purchase. Going super small is a big trend now.

Thanks guys unless I can find another MATX board with M PCI-E I think this is the board I want, what's everyone's opinion on the I5 vs i7 4th gen K edition?
Me getting this board I would have to get an I5 to fit the budget, I was thinking to get an I7 even though their gaming performance is more or less the same with the I7 sometimes topping it in games which utilize the threads, could this situation change with the next gen systems? I plan to sit on this board and cpu for maybe another 2 or 3 CPU gens and I want to make sure I do it right.

Get an i5. You don't need an i7 unless you're doing a bunch of virtualization or graphic design/video editing. i5 is more than enough for gaming and regular use. Also you don't need a K processor unless you plan on over clocking in the future.

I'd get a 4670K or possible equivalent successors to this chip. Hyper threading isn't worth the coin to me and it limits overclocking.

I'm definitely planning on overclocking when I need the extra CPU power, I would hate to get a non K edition I5 I like the freedom.
Weren't all of the Core 2 chips or most of them unlocked? I missed the old Intel chips where you didn't need a special chip to OC frown.gif
