Gelid GC-2 or GC-Supreme?

Thread Starter
I found reviews comparing GC-2 to GC-Extreme, but not "Supreme". Is it the same stuff, or a revision? I was going to order some GC-2 but then saw the Supreme for the same price/gram so now I'm curious wink.gif

The intended use will be for a 7970.

I haven't even heard of the Supreme heh.

Using the Gelid GC Extreme and couldn't be happier, best thermalpaste I have ever owned in my life!

Never heard of the Supreme either, but here, this link should help you make a decision.

Personally, I'd go with GC Extreme.

Unfortunately NCIX doesn't have the Extreme, just the GC-2 and Supreme(I have to order from NCIX). I'll go with the GC-2 since its within ~2c of the Extreme and its cheaper than anything else anyway. It also did well in the GPU test: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/thermal-paste-performance-benchmark,3616-20.html

I picked up a tube of the Supreme and tested it against my usual GC Extreme. From the testing I have done over the past month Supreme appears to give about 1 to 1.5C higher temps than Extreme. Considering Supreme costs about half what Extreme does it is now going to be my standard TIM for everyday installs and I'll use the Extreme when pushing the OC.

Both apply quite easily, spread nice and even (the applicator helps with that), and provide a very consistent temp between all of the cores. I really like how well it covers on Direct Contact heatsinks like the Hyper 212+. I am able to get all four cores within 2C of each other, something I've found difficult to do with other TIM, even Arctic Cooling MX2 which had been my go to TIM for several years.

Your mileage may vary, but I don't think you will go wrong with either, but I would go with the Extreme for Extreme OC'ing as that extra 1 to 1.5C could make a noticeable difference there. For everyday use though, I seriously doubt that you would notice the difference.
