ASUS Sabertooth Z87 Motherboard Club - Page 9

Items 1 and 2 that you posted - I have no idea what they are talking about. Someone with more knowledge than I would need to comment.

I also have a Sabertooth Z87 and I would say that for me those changes would be of no benefit for anything I do with my system.

Personally if I were you since everything is running fine I would not update the chipset drivers.

I agree with Idaho. No point of fixing something that isn't broken. Mine is still shining away like a prince so I'm leaving it be.

Hello Guys!My new Asus Z87 Sabertooth is on the way. Till I'll be allowed to join the club I would like to ask a couple of informative questions.
1)I don't know which bios version will my Sabertooth have, but if i directly flash bios 1803 will this include the 1707 one which is required for the new CPUs?Or is it required first to flash the 1707 bios version before flashing the latest one?I am asking this because 1707 is a sort of transision bios that brings support for new CPUs.

2) Using the bios flashback process:After the update process is finished should i first unplug the usb drive and then turn of the psu or the other way around? The support details do not specify this. I intend to use this method before install the board to the tower and equip it with other components. Is this method safer than the EZ bios update method?

Thank you very much!
I think it's recommended to install the older bios first then install the latest one. Just in case

That's what I've always done. It hasn't caused me any issues.

After all is done just restart the pc and you can take the USB out smile.gif

Either way is safe I think. I've always done it through the bios though.

Thanks for replying!smile.gif

Should I flash all the remaining Bios or just the latest 2 of them (1707 for new CPUs and 1803) or every remaining one BIOS (IF my Board comes with an old BIOS)?

As far as the update procedure goes, I find the EZ update process through the BIOS pretty secure but the bios flashback way seems to be pretty solid too. In any case do you think is best to perform the update with as less compnents as possible installed?
