I'll have to check my XP install and see if it still works. I should check on it, I don't use it that much since I quadruple boot that machine. I use a 4-in-3 hdd cage that has a button for each drive. Pretty handy, much easier than trying to get a bootloader to do that. Check out my Hack-in-the-box V2 if your interested.

I've always used the basic Grub bootloader.

I was almost late for work getting the xp machine back up. Looks like my last set of updates generously included a trojan and a backdoor. I'd be less suspicious, but I have this machine setup for my daughter to play games on, and it is never connected to the net. I use a USB wireless dongle when I need internet access on it. The only websites it has been on since it was built was AMDs site to download drivers, The Boinc main page, boincstats, different boinc projects, and oldapps.com to get a pre-12.0 GPU driver that supports OpenCL. Oldapps is the only non-mainstream site, but they are reportedly clean.

Oldapps.com? Good to know. I've been keeping stuff on my NAS... got files going back as far as 1998..lol... probably useless by now, so I should clean it up. But I've been keeping pretty much every video driver, AMD or Nvida on it going back the last year or two. Yesterday I came across Bal3Wolf's modded AMD drivers for better OpenCL performance with DiRT. I think they were 11.12.

Wrote OpenGL instead of OpenCL... thats a thing, right?

If you extrapolate % complete vs time crunched you can usually get a decent estimate of time remaining (278 minutes crunched / 5.832% complete = 47.66 minutes per %. 94.168 % remaining to crunch * 47.66 minutes = 4488 minutes remaining which is app 74.8 hours remaining)

I guess all those messages from Microsoft urging me to upgrade were actually threats, not suggestions!

Both my machines (one XP and the other Win7 64-bit), rebooted last night at the same time to install updates. "Luckily" I was experiencing insomnia and could hear the suddenly drop in fan levels when they shut down, so I could get them going again without much downtime.
