HL2 (some other games) Help

Thread Starter
On some parts of my game (HL2) When I see say, a gun that has a lazer on it, and that lazer makes a noise, my sound makes a crackling noise..

So it's like 'Physical Sound'..
Yeah, but most of the time my sound makes a crackling noise.

I've installed (more than one, meaning..re-installed, then installed agian) a SoundMax driver.

I HAVE ONBOARD SOUND..

This problem has only been happening when I got my new Flatscreen, but I don't think that's the problem. I've turned off my hardware acceleration, that helped a bit.
Hmm.. When I try to download + install the sound drivers from the ASUS website (My motherboard)
I double click 'install' and nothing happens..
When I let me computer find the 'correct' audio drivers for me, they try to install Realtek audio drivers, but all that does is restart my computer.

Got any ideas of what I should try? (I'm not buying sound card.)
Yeaaahhh!

Is your Onboard sound Realtek ? If so you want to actually get the drivers from the realtek website.
