The Tri-X is good too, the temps I'm getting with it as gpu1 makes me think it's almost as good as the pcs+. So I doubt you're gonna get as much of a temp drop as if you were going from a different card to the pcs+.

I finally made the decision to go with the Power Color PCS+, I also ordered a new monitor, BenQ XL2420TE

I hope this will turn out to be great combo.

--EDIT--
I still have a window of ~24hours to cancel the order, so if anyone thinks this would be a "bad" combo, please let me know.

well my 1st tri-x is hitting 86c during gaming so the PCS+ should do better than that.

How much is the benq? You can get a Korean qnix 1440p IPS panel for $300 and it's stellar. Overclockable too. Whole thread on these guys in the displays forum.

Using the default fan curve? Because my tri-x is getting great temps for the upper card in an air cooled xfire. Gaming temps in the high 60s. What's your case fan setup? I've got a bottom fan and side fan both feeding intake to the Gpus.

Yes stock fan profile but with 1100/1450 clocks on both cards. I have Silverstone FT02 case.

With fans cranked, 60-80%, temps are great. Loud though lol. Game sounds drown them out but in quiet moments you can really hear them.

I dunno know that you get the most out of the FT02's unparalleled cooling power with either the pcs+ or the tri-x. Both have vertical pipes, and the pcs+ thick pipe has the reverse U bend at the top which Silverstone says is not suited to the FT02 cooling design. I've been looking into this because I really want an FT02.

I'll let you know how the PCS+ go compared to the Tri-X tomorrow. Only 1 of the heatpipes on the PCS+ is a U shape when looking at the pics.

I'll take some pics of the heatsink removed since i can't seem to find anyone who has done this yet.

For those going crossfire, the top card will sit about 15 - 20 higher than the bottom card. My lower card is usually 61, top 75+
post #170 of 1176
Well I returned my 290 Tri-X. Not going to xfire for now, my 4670k even at 4.7 isn't enough to support 290 xfire so it's pointless for now. One 290 is plenty for me anyway. When and if I do xfire I'll probably get a second PCS+, the Tri-X is nice but that thing is going to sag bad in a year, it's got no support whatsoever and it's 1022g. Doesn't even have a metal strip along the edge of the pcb. Also, something I realized, having two different brand cards in the same case, with fans that have different acoustic characteristics, basically doubles the invasiveness of fan noise.

I'd love to hear a report on how the FT02 meshes with the PCS+ cooler.

I posted this earlier, but I was getting much better temps in xfire with the Tri-X on top.

This is of course with fans cranked, the Tri-X on top hit 71% fan while PCS+ hit 58% fan. But also, the PCS+ is just too thick, even with double spacing between pcie slots there is no room. That's why I got the Tri-X in the first place, it's 14mm thinner. And sure enough, great temps, maybe better than what you could get with the PCS+ xfire, even though the PCS+ is a better cooler, simply because the extra space allows sufficient airflow.
