It's in the standard location, near where the screws for the pci bracket are, along the side edge. It's really tiny.

If you can force air in there you're ok but you need a side fan for this, and a side fan setup that has more than one fan blowing on the length of the card is ideal. This is what I use:

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 90

Link for those who might be interested, won't fit in FT02 obviously. http://www.moddiy.com/products/modDIY-PCI-Slot-Fan-Mounting-Kit-%2880%7B47%7D90mm-Fan-x-3%29.html

.

Hey taem, im thinking of buying that now, did you place yours above the pcs or below it? wondering how i should place it
you do have the sapphire in crossfire though, i guess you put it on the top, would it work better if it was below?

Update:

Replaced motherboard

Clean install windows 7 64....13.2 drivers....system drivers...

FAIL

I am now pretty sure after 2 cards new Mobo+psu some cards are faulty. Both had hynix ram.

Do not buy this card unless you test before.

It's not needed in a single card setup if you already have a side fan. I only use it in dual gpu mode in the vertical pci bracket so it's blowing directly into the gap between cards. It won't fit below the cards because crossfire takes up too much room. And intake for the bottom card isn't the problem, it's intake for the upper card.

The youtube review discussed earlier in this thread raised this issue. I think you my be right I think there may be a batch out there of early production cards that is faulty in some way. I don't think it's very many since a fair number of folks here have this card and don't have this problem. But it may be advisable to buy only from retailers who will replace or take returns.

If someone with a pcs 290 could run firestrike @ 1150/1450 It would be much appreciated.

Originally had reference 290 (can't remember which drivers some beta) but @ 1150/1450 it was scoring 12.3k for a gpu score, while the pcs 290 @ 1150/1450 on 13.12 is only scoring 11.7k which worries me. At stock its scoring between a normal 290 and 290x (closer to the 290x) so im curious as to what is going on.

I'm only 300 points away from your score, that's pretty close to margin of error. I want to know why I have a 5% discrepancy from my reference 290, and would like to know if drivers are responsible. My reference run with my sapphire 290 @ 1150/1450 was using beta's I just can't remember which 13.11 or 13.12. Thank you for posting results.

but could it help my temps then if i put it a slot above the pcs? whats the width on it though? it might be a tight squeeze for me
see look

i understand your concern brother. I had a reference 290 too:thumb: it was %5-10 faster than the 2 pcs+ i had clock to clock. just run valley benchmark extreme 1080p it should score 60-61 @ 1040 whereas my faulty cards score 57.5

edit: i forgot.... msi afterburner doesnt stick power limit with my pcs+... it throttles when overclocked with afterburner so i use asus gpu tweak or trixx. Check if your card throttles if you are using ab.
