Working fine with my 7950 which I was able to reduce VDC from 1.2 to 1.056 V ! Temp drops from 77 to 72 under mining. This is considering card is # 1 in mATX and air intake is blocked partially.

Of Course this will depend on each card individually.

vbe7 is only for 7000 series cards, btw are you supposed to undervolt if you bring the clock speeds down? even just the core clock?

And about the case, go ahead and get it. I was pulling my hair for the past 6 months on what case I wanted to get. My line of thought was roughly like this:
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Level 10GT
FT02
FT02 watercooled with 540mm rad
Corsair 750D
Phanteks Enthoo Primo
FT04
Haf XB
Haf XB Evo
Haf XB Evo watercooled with 1080 rad
FT04
FT05
NZXT H440
Phanteks Enthoo Luxe
Caselabs M8
Watercool my PC-A70F with monsta 360 and 240.
Cubitek Magicube AIO
Tech Station
FT04
FT02
Do nothing
Make a custom case
Haf XB Evo modified with pci fan bracket

I might of missed some cases, but you get the general idea. When you get too picky, that is what happens biggrin.gif The HAF XB stock didn't satisfy me, but add some fans on it to fully utilize the direct airflow to components, it has the potential to be the best air-cooled case on the market, especially for its small size and price.

Next up is a 4930k, but that won't be for a couple months.

I hope my 290xs don't have performance problems. As someone said in this thread somewhere, Hynix vram could be the possible issue. Due to supply shortages from Hynix, they could be pushing out lower quality or lower binned chips in order to meet the demand. Has anyone tried flashing a different bios on there (PT1 bios comes to mind) to see if that fixes the performance. Something is just telling me that the PT1 bios will fix it.

I believe the issue is with power related components and not the actual memory chips. Myself and one other member in this thread with a Hynix based card have been seeing dangerously high drops on our 12v rails through gpuz under load. I think there was also link to another forum pointing out the issue in a similar manner.

What's the extent of the drops you're seeing? I'll keep an eye on mine next few sessions, mine performs as expected, want to see if I'm getting less of a drop.

Also, have you tried using afterburner and raising aux voltage?

you guys really should just rma the card, you could try document the gpu voltage drops, download bandi-cam, it lets you record your desktop.

For showing the unigine scores and 3dmark firestrike scores
you could nab that with dxtory, i use dxtory because it doesnt affect fps performance, granted you get 30fps or more smooth
Or use a high quality camera, which i dont have rolleyes.gif

and request rma and be done with it. ask for a elpida card if your willing to give up the hynix

I have tested both stock and overclock. At desktop it is 11.88 and in game it bounces from 11.75 to 11.63. I don't know if this is an issue but rv8000 mentioned that his other card never drops below 11.75v. So maybe it is the issue. I've been emailing with tech support and he just responded agreeing to an rma though he cant guarantee what memory it will be.

Hm, but if this is happening to some cards and not others, that implies there is something defective that is not meant to be - rather than a poor design applied across all cards, as it were?

How would you guys suggest I test for this when I install my card next week? I have only recently returned to PCs so am not as technically knowledgable as some in this thread!

how low is acceptable number for 12v drop?

Just run benchmarks and you'll see. Firestrike graphic score is always about ~700pts less than what it should be. Basically the card will perform as if it the core is clocked at 100 mhz less than it actually is. As far as the 12v rail we really don't know if that has anything to do with it but its really the only guess we have.

I have no idea really. He mentioned it so I checked my numbers too. Don't know really anything else about it.

Just gamed a bit, 12v fluctuates between 11.563 minimum and 11.813 max. At desktop it's 11.781.

edit, just noticed an oddity

1328mhz core?! I wish! What is this though? Clock is set to 1140 core 1500 mem.
