But this is the second review with autofan i've seen and i am not so impressed from the cooling department.

I am using auto fan and my temps in games are ~66, in benchmarks ~69

Well, mine was 67 for games and 71-73 in benches, but my box is not so good despite the full set of fans. What i mean is that in most reviews the temps of pcs+ 290s are more than 10 degrees lesser than the temps of wf3 290s, but in reality this is not the case. I'm not saying that pcs+ 290 is a bad card, only that its cooling is not so much better than wf3 cooler. And when compare 2 vs 3 years warranty i am not so sure i want to pay 30$ more for the powercoler over wf3.

But if someone can give me another advice i will be glad. Thanks in advance.

I have no experience with the gigabyte wf but I have the PCS+ 290 and the cooling is the best I've ever seen on a gpu. My case is a Define R4, I'm running undervolted Noctua fans, in-game temps are in the 50s across the board in almost all gaming scenarios, and this is with an oc to 1140 core 1500 mem. Might hit low 60s in a very demanding scenario.

But as much as I love this card, so many folks are reporting underperformance issues that I would think hard before picking one up. The newly released Sapphire 290 Vapor X looks pretty good, I'd look into that first.

Is the Powercolor rep still around and able to comment on the Powercolor PCS+ performance issues? We know a custom bios was created to attempt a fix but doesn't seem like that was a complete fix.

Is there a confirmed bad batch of cards that have since been rectified in the manufacturing process? Or is this still an issue from the assembly line and it's luck of the draw until you locate the source of the underperformance?

It was great you reached out on here, an update would be great though in any further development.

umm no this card runs very cool actually, maxes out around 65ish degrees, the highest i seen was 70 C on core but only for mining

and vrm 2 never runs higher than 55 C, you will be lucky to hit 55, i hit 55 on mining
for gaming it sticks around 52

as for vrm 1, she runs hotter around 65-70 C
i havent really bothered checking how vrm 1 performs, i seen mid sixties and such for gaming on load

for mining it can reach 80C
you could just put a miniature fan nearby and keep the case open, drops vrm 1 down to low 70s but mining like that is stupid. just get a milk crate.

I don't mine. The point is that my gb 290 oc had the almost the same temps - max 73 degrees for the core in benches and around 67 degrees in games. VRM1 had temps around 68 in games and 75 in benches. VRM2 always was around 55-60.

And i have one more question. Could you please see the pic of my rig and tell me will i can put a pcs+ card in it? It is 3 slots card, right?

Hi Guys,

I just received my Powercoler 290 obviously expecting great results but I've been kinda disappointed.

I have tried both the current latest drivers and the beta ones but my results don't seem right.

Diablo runs very choppy as can be seen by this GPU log from Afterburner

http://imgur.com/bOfCc1k

Tomb Raider runs ok but only gets 45 or so FPS

http://imgur.com/RUit6Zd

The only other game I've tried it on was Far cry 3 and that just ran for about 5 minutes before it crashed.

Now, the temperature never climbed above 70 and my CPU is barely being used so I'm not sure where to go with this.

Diablo runs for about an hour before it gives me a black screen and when it comes back by it self it runs like crap, the temperature still isn't a problem when this happens.

Do you guys have any idea what I could try? it does have Hynix memory.

Thanks in advance

upper right corner of the page you'll see the Rigbuilder. it would help others in diagnosing your issue if the components are known.

do you mind running 3DMark11 bench? third from the list . . .
