PowerColor PCS+ R9 290? - Page 68

I just want to put this out there so i can get your opinions. I rma'd a powercolor card (not 290/X) that was stuttering and crashing on desktop all the time after I picked up my pcs+ 290. Powercolor refused my rma because of what they claim to physical damage to the card. Please, judge with your own eyes. I will upload the pics they took and sent to me via mail.

I responded with this, "Well, thanks a lot. Wasn't expecting this kind of treatment from a company that I still patronized after their card failed on me. Anyway, since the card isn't dead. Can I pay to have it fixed? The card still boots up but seems to have memory corruption issues. Please, help me. I can't afford to have a $200 paper weight." and got this reply, "Cards that have crushed edges cannot be repaired. We cannot offer any type of repair service."

You'd think the damage was really severe for him to use the word "crushed" but take a look at the pics and judge for yourself. This is something I never noticed during the entire time I had the card, even when it was working perfectly, and i'm sure it has nothing to do with the problem the card is having.

With all these issues their cards are having atm and this occurence, one thing I know is that powercolor won't be getting my business ever ever again, as well as that of everyone I know.

i dont see all four corners of the card, you should take a hd camera and just film the whole card and show the condition of the Entire card. Grab it, hold it in the light, i want to see the heatsink and everything, every little square inch of the card on camera.
and of course take some pics.

powercolor has always been good making nice cards i dont expect this kind of customer service BUT i didnt exactly see the entire card. You should also film the card when its back in the case and boot it up and document on film the crash you experience.

if its true then all you got is a smudge on your card. I dont know if that could impact the circuits or w/e, should probably ask some tech guy who works for amd about that.
To me it doesnt look like a big deal because its just the top part of the pcb board? headscratch.gif i doubt theres any conductivity passing through there.
But you should read up on powercolors warranty policy, they probably have all the right to refuse rma just because of that.
i know doesnt really make it right, they could at least open up the board and take a look at it but who knows, maybe they did, maybe the shipping hurt the card, i dont know man.

if you still cant get rma or something, look out for people who work with electronics and things, they could take a look at the board and see if somethings off. Not really sure who you could possibly hire though but their are folks out there who know how to repair and solder circuit boards and things of that nature.
that would be last resort.

Have you sent your results to MSI?

not yet.

There's a possibility but most likely a bios issue. I'd rma it asap.
