Need help w/slave drives

Thread Starter
I did a reinstall of Windows and now my Slave Hard Drive and Slave CD/RW Drive are not working. When I open My Computer window (C) Drive shows up but not the slave. When I open disk management (C) drive shows as disk 0, on line and healthy. Slave hard drive shows as disk 1 on line and unallocated without a letter assigned to it. My slave CD/RW drive shows up as drive (E) in My Computer. I have (A) Floppy, (C) Local Disk (D) DVD (E) CD-RW, this is what shows in MY Computer. I am not able to access my slave HD at all. My CD drive will open and close but when I put a cd in it will not read. Both slaves also show in Device Manager Properties as working properly. Reps for any help, and thanks.

I've tried changing the cables just to make sure but no difference. In bios both drives show up also. Weird, hope one of you might be able to help.

Also tried uninstalling each drive and then rebooting PC, same thing. I feel like maybe there is something I need to do in settings somewhere. Also tried reinstalling drivers for each device, no luck.

Whoa! Don't bump so often. It's considered rude to bump within 24 hrs. of your last post.

But anyway I think you should first try assigning a letter to your drive. And when you reinstalled Windows, did you accidentally (or purposefully) reformat your slave? Because if you did it's no wonder it's not allocated.

Make sure the jumpers on the drives are either on cable select or the correct position for their place in the cable.

Had no idea I was being rude, just trying to provide all the info I could, sorry. I'll try giving the HD a letter and no I didn't reformat the drive at reinstall. Thanks.

No problem. If you want to add information, you can use the Edit button, which will let you add to the end of your post (or anything else you might want to do to it).

You might have just "deleted the partition" at reinstall, which removed the last partition and just didn't reformat it all the way by putting a new filesystem.

I had given this some thought. It's possible I could have accidentally knocked it off or something. I might as well power down and open back up. I'll also check cables one more time too.

rechecked everything and all looks OK, jumpers, cables etc. I tried to give drive a letter but want let me. Hope I didn't screw this drive up somehow. I've got family pics on it, Christmas and birthdays and such. I figured that the drive would be fine with reinstall as I did not touch it. This drive is only used for storage of pics and video.
