Not sold by amazon themselves. Only 3rd party sellers so can't be delivered to my where I live. No-one selling in my country yet.

Where are you at?

I just bought some Phanteks PH-F140s. Are these better for heatsinks?

Ok so after trying to find any information whether these fans could be put on a radiator, I decided to test it for myself. I bought 4 Aerocool DS 120mm fans about a month ago to improve airflow in my case. Now I've tested them on a Corsair H105 Radiator smile.gif. I compared them to the SP120L fans that came with the H105 kit.

I do want to mention that this is the first time I ever did a comparison on my own so keep that in mind. I tried to do this test as good and fair as I could. I ran the SP120L fans at their MAX RPM and at the MAX RPM of the Aerocool which was around 1200~ to give you an idea how these perform at the same RPM.

Test Method - Closed case

Cold Boot
  • 10 Minute CPU warmup - Prime95 Small FFT
  • 10 Minute idle - SP120L - 40% speed
  • 10 Minute load - SP120L - 40% speed - P95 Small
  • 10 Minute idle - SP120L - 100% speed
  • 10 Minute load - SP120L - 100% speed - P95 small

-Switched to Aerocool Fans-
  • 10 Minute CPU warmup - Prime95 Small FFT
  • 10 Minute idle - Aerocool DS - 100% speed
  • 10 Minute load - Aerocool DS - 100% speed - P95 small

Setup:
CPU: i7 950 3,06Ghz @ 4,0Ghz
Motherboard: ASRock X58 Extreme
GPU: Asus GTX 780 DCUII
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 12GB-1600 - running at
Cooler: Corsair H105
Thermal Paste: H105 pre-applied paste(stock)
Case: Corsair 750D
Case Fan Setup: 2x140 Intake Front - 1x120 Intake Bottom - 2x120 Exhaust(rad) Top - 1x140 Exhaust Back
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1

Hopefully this gives some ppl an idea of how these perform.

Thank you for giving it a go.

How would you subjectively assess the noise differences?
Thanks for that review. However I'm more interested in their performance on a low FPI rad at like 700-800 RPM and how noise compares to others. Some may say 700 RPM? Fans are silent at that speed. But when you've got 10+ fans running 700-800 RPM it's not silent, relatively quiet yes, silent no. Always nice to knock off a dB here or there.

It's kind of hard to compare the Aerocool fan noise to the SP120Ls because the SP120L fans had a nasty vibration in them, even at lower RPM. That vibration got passed throughout the entire case, even with rubber grommets in between the fans, rad & case. I even tried to add some special anti-vibration pads in between everything but that didn't help much either.

If I figure out where my 7v adaptor is, i'll try to run them with it and make another performance comparison if you would want that?

Overall, the only noise I hear is the air passing through the radiator, which is normal I think, and the air sound is a very soft breeze, it's more on the relaxing side than the annoying one if you ask me. There isn't really any 'produced' spinning sound coming from the fan itself.

Took some pics aswell smile.gif
