Recommend a software for private video streaming with MINIMUM LAG. - Page 2

If you only have one viewer, it makes sense to do a direct stream, instead of streaming to a server and letting the server distribute to viewers.

There are several programs that are capable of this, but I'm not sure which if any are optimized for low latency and high quality. For the most part, they are designed for presentations, tech support, etc.

I don't have a webcam, but even if I had, you know video quality would be utter sh%$, right? And while video quality is not of utmost importance, I'm afraid this method would go way beyond what's unacceptable.

Depends on how good of a web cam you get, but it probably is the only method that will had the least lag.

The VLC option might work better though since it takes out the server middleman...however it will still require you to capture it to a video stream first. To do that you will need to record with some software and stream it...which will add lag...or use a webcam

With this ofcourse you need to send the video to everyone and not just a server that then sends it to everyone so you need a decent connection.
Same questions.

http://esportsbroadcasting.com/ in combination with something like open broadcasting software only has a couple of seconds of delay.

Same questions.

In vlc:
1: "Media -> Stream..." or Ctrl+s
2: Capture Device
3: Select your device
4: Press "Stream"
5: Press "Next"
6: In new destination select "RTP / MPEG Transport Stream" (check display locally if you want to see your stream), press "add"
7: Address = your public ip, base port = port you want to use, stream name = anything you want, press "Next"
8: Use transcoding if you want to, press "Next"
9: Check "Stream all elementary streams" and press "Stream"
10: Done thumb.gif

now anyone who wants to view just opens rtp://yourip:port in their media player and can watch.

I can't open the stream. I click "Media -> then Open Network Stream...", then I fill in "Please enter a network URL:" with "rtp://myfriend'sip:port" and an error comes up. What's wrong?

P.S. Under the "Capture Device" tab what do I choose as "Capture mode" (DirectShow or Desktop) if I want to stream?
