What's the average percentage you can usually overclock a CPU?

Thread Starter
My processor runs stock at 1.86GHz, but I have it overclocked to 1.96GHz. What's the average percent people can usually achieve? That's running at 62C, and I don't wanna get passed 75C. What do you think it can get to?

Holy crap, 62C! Lol..

You need an aftermarket cooler mate - I suggest either a ThermalTake Big Typhoon, a Tuniq Tower 120 or a Scythe Infinity.

My CPU, which is the same as yours, is currently overclocked to 2.3GHz.. I've had it at 3.08Ghz at one point but it was unstable with the volts I'd given it.. needed more!

However, as a short term solution, you should be able to reduce your vCore to about 1.1v with that small overclock, that should lower your temps enough until you get a cooler.

I assume you have a E6300 then? I got mine up to 2.8GHz with a really good air cooler. Are you using the stock cooler? You probably should get a new cooler if you want to overclock. And those temperatures are way to high for your overclock. What are your voltages?

the core 2 duos usually get to about 3.0-3.6GHz so about 75-100% OC

Wow dude. You have some ****ty case airflow and a ****ty CPU cooler! 62C on THAT OC? I mean, what OC? You need to upgrade your cooling, and throw a more fans in your case. Yikes.

As far as percentage OCs... it depends entirely on your processor. Yours is a E6300 I'm guessing, so if you don't fry it by running it at 62C, you may be able to get a 70%-80% OC if not more.
