I actually bought one and returned it because it has a glossy screen. However, the picture was pretty incredible. I would be able to hook my consoles up to it, as well as my PC.

I drive my wife crazy with upgrading and purchasing more components. She doesn't understand why I cannot just be content with what I have, and to be honest, I don't know why either. I mean, I originally built a PC to game on, but it just turned into what you have described. I admit, I love it as a hobby, but it is very expensive and time consuming. Like you said, with consoles there is no tweaking. You can just turn it on and play and you know that you are going to have a great gaming experience. I mean, I know that you can do that with your PC, too, but on consoles you are playing games specifically designed for consoles. Sometimes, PC games are just ports of console games and you can run into problems that makes you want to tweak your PC some more.

Sorry, that was long winded rolleyes.gif.
lol...I kind of thought the same thing when I read it.

Haha you and me are the same.

My current AOC 1080p monitor is also inexpensive but very good looking and if I game on it there is no ghosthing at all.

Also my wife was going crazy everytime I told her that I was going to get a new GPU or a new monitor. Neither her nor I understood why I was not content with the parts I owned.

Yeah, I didn't noticed any ghosting or lag when playing on the one posted below. Right now, I have an Asus PB238Q that is actually really nice, and I should really probably keep it, but I think I want to give the glossy screen another go. I remembered it looked great with the consoles, too.

My wife absolutely hates it! Just last night, I was trying to calibrate the stupid Asus monitors (same exact model and the colors were off...arghhh!) and I asked her to tell me if she noticed a difference between the two. She was not having it lol. She was like, "I don't really care if they are the same color or not. This is stupid and stop asking me about your computer stuff!!! I don't care." Fun stuff biggrin.gif.

Here is the one that I am looking at:
Acer H236HL 23" 1080p

It is just the glossy screen that I have to get used to, I supposed. However, the colors are do vibrant and clear.

Back on topic...I think it is time for a change!

I built my PS4 "Nest" (So dubbed by the wife, says she never seen anyone look so relaxed, when i am sitting feet up) and was throwing ideas around, I could hook up the PS4 to my 55 inch Plasma, but that would not fit into my plans on how to build the "Nest".

In the end I decided to use my "old" PC screen, a Samsung SA950D - Gorgeous picture, big enough screen and not noticing any input lag smile.gif

Currently I am building a small Console-station, that way the kids also have a place to chill when home.

How is it possible to switch from PC gaming to something else ?
I really don't get it.

The PS4 is good enough visually that I could go back to consoles if it wasn't for Bethesda's RPGs and their modding communities. I went to PC in the first place for Oblivion's mods and I wouldn't play vanilla Skyrim if you paid me. I'd have to keep some gaming capable PC around.

Alot of the issues OP had was of his own choosing

You could just stop upgrading so much

Driver support isnt too much of a issue really

Steam now does streaming and you could have just gone ITX and it would have been simple as pie moving the system

Guys, I am pretty sure this is not a PC VS PS4 thread, but merely a place where people can get guidance in a "Switch" if they need it - Heck, the jump for me was INTENSE as I been playing on PC for .. Well forever (32 years old, still remember getting my fist color monitor, lol).

That said, there *IS* of course a HUGE difference in the two camps, with the PS4 I can honestly say that I feel more relaxed when playing - Cannot pinpoint it, just how it is - I am sure that there are people that would sit down and feel the opposite.

I think that is a very good screen. thumb.gif

Modding was one of the reasons I switched from PS3 to PC 2.5 years ago. I installed many modes for Skyrim but ended up using only 1 of them that changed the way the inventory looks and functions. The vanilla Skyrim inventory was clearly made for a gamepad. Other than that I never used any mods but I 100% agree that one of the things makes PC gaming special is the modding. I am sure many console gamers wished there was modding in consoles as well.

That is the problem. I couldnt stop upgrading much because there is always a new tech. I started with a 1080p 60hz screen, than a 1080p 120hz screen, than a 1440p screen. I would have gone for 4K and than 4k120hz I am sure. They all offered better looking games and I always felt like I had to get it. Especially being a part of this great OCN community, it is very hard to resist a new tech. And with all the newer monitors, the demand got bigger which would result on buying a new GPU.

I used to be extremely unhappy when paying top money for a GPU and than not maxing out a game, and to be honest Geforce Experience ran to my rescure back than because I could just use their optimization and dont even look once to the settings. But unfortunately Geforce Expeience settings were optimized for 40fps and it bothered me to play 40fps where 60fps was a possibility.

And I think drivers are an issue. They are one of the reasons that I did not go SLI ever ( Besides a 590 GPU ). I always wanted to but even top AAA titles did not have proper SLI support. Sometimes a newer driver made things worse etc...

Streaming is not an option for me unfortunately since I live in Turkey and our internet, although good, it is not ideal for those kind of scenarios.

I agree that the difference between the PS4 or xboxone and a PC is huge... Totally 2 different things and personally I would never compare a PC and a console visually. But although I was a picky person on PC gaming and always wanted to have the best resolution out there, best settings at a high FPS, on a console I am fine with 1080p 30fps believe it or not. Why? Because that is the way the game is built and I have no control over tweaking it.

I am playing Thief on PS4 and it is capped at 30fps. Guess what? I am sooo enjoying it while in the other hand on a PC, I would refuse to play a game that is capped at 30fps. I would look for an hack to make it work at 60hz. But on console, I dont even mind a single bit. (And this comes from a person who always defended consoles had to be 1080p 60fps this generation in every single game but later was convinced that for eye candy some games would have been capped at a 30fps)

Also for me a console is much more relaxing as you said. I can throw an UBER PC and a PS4 to my living room both at the same time. Lying on my couch, I would have more fun with the PS4. Because eventhough I am playing a nice intense multiplayer FPS game, I know that my opponents are also using a gamepad and perhaps lying on the couch as well. While on PC, if I ever play an online FPS with a gamepad, my ass would be owned every second of the round.

But like you said, a person can be in my exact situation but favor PC Gaming over console gaming any day of the time. It is all about priorites.thumb.gif

I am 31 years old, a new father and my gaming is limted and I really do not want to waste anytime with tweaking, upgrading, overclocking. I just want to enjoy my games. With PC, I am always obsessed on tweaking, OCing etc... I Also my real life friends are in to PS4 too which is another reason.
