Setting up raid 0 with a third storage drive.

Ok, heres the deal. I have a 250g drive with all my crap on it, and I just bought 2 74g raptors. I would like to set up the 2 74g as the boot and the 250 as the storage. But i need to transfer all the files on to the raptors. When I set up the raid it turns the 250 into raid too, and it wont let me boot from the 250 only the raptors, and there empty so I cant. Any ideas?

Including the 250 in your RAID basically forces the 250 to run at 74GB with the other Raptors. Because it is slower it is actually slowing down your array. It should be possible to run the two Raptors in RAID and keep the 250 out of it entirely. If you set it up like this then it should allow you to boot from the 250 until you can get your files backed up.

yes thanks, I reinstalled XP on the RAID raptors and then copied the 250 contents on to the RAID drives. so now I have the Raptors to boot and the 250wd to store.
