[Case Mod] Stormtrooper: Phantom NZXT

post #1 of 11

This is my fist case mod and the plan of attack.

1. Starting with my work/light gaming computer.
-- Mobo: GA-990FXA-UD5
-- CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
-- GPU: Radeon HD 6970
-- RAM: 16GB DDR3 G.Skill Ripsaw 1600
2. Sleeve all cables
3. Window mod
4. All LEDs changed from blue to white -- *** Currently on hold ***
5. Clean up motherboard tray, and all remaining metal inside the case
-- Using 1/8" thick black acryllic

Day one: spent the majority of the day breaking down the PC organizing and removing the HD storage bays waiting impatiently on the UPS driver with my frozencpu order. Below is the pictures of today's progress I didn't take a lot of pictures during this process, after a long day only have 1 cable sleeved but I'm still waiting on a couple more parts to come in the mail.

As soon as I make more progress I'll be posting updates. I will not be water cooling due to lack of funds.

Starting mess, please be nice about the dust put off cleaning for too long axesmiley.png

Empty Case followed by removed hd storage

Total package and cable going to be used

Update:
Sorry for the lack of information on the previous post.

So I spent the last 4 days sleeving all the cables from the PSU, Sata Power, Sata Data. Also my plexiglass came in and started cutting (pictures to come). Hopefully my work slows down and I'll be able to upload more photos of the Plexi in the next day or two.

Also a huge THANK YOU to lutro0 for the sleeving how to video's they helped avoid a lot of issue I would have had on my own.

Help wanted on removing Stock LEDs from a case fan. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also the power/ground for the LEDs are White/gray, I'm pretty sure the White is the ground am I correct on thinking this??

Sata Power:
== Before ==

== After ==

== Test fitted ==

PSU:
== Starting ==

== Sleeved ==

Plexiglass going to be used:

What PSU is that, but excellent sleving btw. Best SATA power I've ever seen.

The PSU is a "XPower1080" 850W. Thanks those 5 power wires took me 8 hours alone, but all that effort really paid off.

Finally an update.

After the ice storm lose of power and a crazy couple weeks at work I've made up some lost time with all the plexiglas. I've included a teaser shot of what the plexi looks like in the case. Just have a couple of wires left to sleeve and to be cleaned up then hopefully start with assembly.

Georgia ice storm, my area got just over 1" of ice total... didn't like that tree any ways. By the way that's not snow on the ground, nothing but sleet and frozen rain.

Plexi-glass back plate and PSU test fit.

5-1/4 bay cover molded to the chassis.

Assembly:

Everything except the Window mod has been completed initial assembly started. I still have cable management to tackle.
Hopefully by this weekend the window mod will be completed. What do you guys think?

Completed.

Had to put everything on hold for a little while due to life getting in the way.

I got all the sleeving from FrozenCPU, along with the window mod.

Nice and thorough, like how precise sata power plugs are.
