P5WDH Deluxe northbridge heatsink.

Thread Starter
I read somewhere that Asus may have been somewhat sloppy with the application of thermal grease between the northbridge heatsink and chipset. People have removed, cleaned and applied AS5 with a significant improvement in motherboard temperatures.

I tried fiddling with this today, and had difficulty with the white plastic fasteners that secure the northbridge cooling fin assembly to the board, (the one that is attached via a heatpipe to the northbridge heatsink itself.)

Do these fasteners unscrew, are they twist and turn, anyone know ???

TIA,

Nuke

you have to use pliers to squeeze the pin together and then push it through. I have big fingers but you might be able to do it with your hands

You mean from the bottom of the board??

I was hoping I wouldn't have to remove it from the case.

anything where thermal compound needs to be applied on the PC, will be horrible from the factory, and you have to remove the motherboard from the case to remove the Assembly.

Thanks, I guess I'll blow it off cause I'm going 680i one way or the other.

I'll be sure to check the same on the new mobo B4 install.

Reps for both you guys,

Nuke
