NUANCE Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12 Premium for HTPC Interface?

Title says it all. Im looking to build a HTPC in the near future. Heard decent things on this software, but Never heard anyone mention anything about using it for an HTPC. I think it would be pretty cool, similar to an Xbox One. Might need the professional Version to have more custom commands.

Hi RabidSnail,

Did you end up pursuing this path? What have been your results so far?

I'm interested in doing the exact same thing and more. My ultimate vision is to have my PC act as the hub that controls the whole apartment (HTPC, lights, heating, blinds, etc) by having the computer execute macros upon voice activation. I did a bunch of research tonight and I think NUANCE Dragon NaturallySPeaking 12 Professional appears to be the version that accepts recording custom mouse macros. If I don't write back in a while its because I forgot. Ping me and I'll post my results.

I actually ended up putting the project on hold, partially due to financial issues, but I plan on revisiting it some time over the summer/ fall. So I have not look any more into this, but from my research previously, it looked like you needed the Professional version to really have any sort of integration (like you said with the custom commands). If you end up moving along with this, I might be interested in just purchasing the software and investigating its capabilities along side you (just running for my current desktop for now). From what I remember, It seemed that this software wasnt 'designed' to handle this level of integration, but that doesnt mean we can find some ways around any potential issues. For example, I have become familiar with the software AutoHotKey, and if Dragon can not do something we want, we might be able to have it launch a hotkey and have AutoHotKey complete the task.

IDK, Im just throwing out some ideas that might help you. If your interested in pursuing this, let me know! This could have the potential of being a really interesting project.
