Monitor disassemble (updated)

Thread Starter
I was wondering if anyone has ripped apart a 19" lcd before and actually used it apart.

What i want to know is if there is a way that i can run my three 19" lcd's side by side without any bezel around the screen.
I want to do away with the black bars between the screens that are in this pic.
Is this doable ? thought id ask before i rip mine apart and wreck it.

That'd be awesome if you could. But it sounds like TONS of modding would be required.

Its doable in a sense lol. You can just have the screen itself hanging there but i would not recommend it, because nothing would be protecting it. If there are nothing on the sides of the monitor where that black part it, u maybe "MAYBE" can shave it down a little bit, check the side though by removing the back panel. Should be some screws, btw nice setup lol a true WoW junkie it seems.

There is with heavy modding, I don't know your skill level in doing such things however, cause If you mess up, thats money down the drain. lol so for your safety I would have a professional do it, I could do it haha but then again I'm nowhere near you. You would have to make a custom case or modify your current ones.

My advice, leave it alone and try to get used to it its a sweet setup dont wanna wreck it.

He does that with a special adapter I believe. That allows a resolution long enough to cover 3 screens.

It's definitely do-able. That's basically how DIY projectors were born. People yanking out just the LCD panels and sandwiching them between Fresnel lenses. The hardest part will be finding a means to mount the bare panel because you have to contend with the backlights and circuitry from all 3 screens.

Edit: the adapter is a Matrox TripleHead2Go
