Monitor disassemble (updated) - Page 5

I have not taken one apart but I have seen one apart and what I think you will find is that the edge of the actual LCD panel has something of a "bezel" that makes for about a 1/4" of dead space--meaning you will still have some gap between the dsplays. A seamless three panel display would be incredible--but considering that there are no commercial solutions (I searched) that offer seamless multipanel monitors I am guess it may not be physically possible to have each display butted edge to edge even after removing the protecive (stressing that word) bezel.

Yea, there's about a quarter inch metal sheet surrounding the edges. You could get it close, but it wouldn't be seamless. I just took my LCD apart. I know

So I was correct. I just finished reading up on a cool mod where the guy replaced everthing with 1/4" acryic--now that might be nice.

Wait!!! I know someone who took apart a LCD monitor and with that, some electronics know how, and an overhead projector (like the ones they use in High School to write on), made himself a projector of his screen. Maybe i can ask him if there's any way to remove the thin metal and keep everything together.

you can do that but it wouldn't be back lite which you need. They did that on engadget when they made their hi def projector.

yea. but the lights are only on the top and bottom, so you might beable to cut down the back flashing a little bit.

Im still going to add the LED's into the acrylic so that only the edges glow

Im also going to clean up the back of the unit by removing the metal casing around the electronics ane replace it with acrylic.

It's a Matrox TripleHead2Go. Splits one monitor signal into one uber-widescreen high resolution three-monitor setup.
